Really, I barely fit in my '81 210 Deluxe :(

The seat doesn't go back far enough for my to stretch my legs out properly, and the seat is also too close to the steering wheel, so my legs hit it while driving. I also can't extend my arms properly to drive. Woe to the large, tall Datsun enthusiast, I suppose.

So, I'm wondering if anyone out there has any idea on how to bolt a set of seats right to a car's floor? The seat rails in the 210 are just plain up too high. I have a set of seats from a 1987 Nissan Pulsar (sans the rails) stashed up in the ceiling rafters of my garage. If I could figure out a way to fit those in, I'd be in business, but I don't know a whole lot about mounting non-oem seats in vehicles. I did some test fitting with the seat and a few 2x4 boards. It seems like I'd need the seatback of the new seat almost touching the rear seat, and I need to lift the back bottom of the seat about 2" from the floor and then just let the front of the seat bottom just rest on the floor.

B110/B210 runners are exceptionally high, when i fitted P710 seats to my B110 with P710 rails the seat height came down about 2in!

my advice is take a seat out, and sit one of the N13 pulsar seats in there and see what needs moving.

you may even find the N13 seats come close to bolting straight to the B210 runners, in which case make some extensions out of 6mm bar and re-situtate your seat back a few inches.

dont forget to triangulate the mounts though, or you'll have a swivel bar stool for a driver's seat!

I've just finished fitting fixed back cobra seats to my 1200 & the improvement is amazing. I can now stretch my legs out properly. By using a sheet of 3mm plate to attach the seats to the rails, it mean't I could place the seats further back than standard.

I've looked into bolting the N13 seats to the 210 rails. The problems were that not only would the rails have been about 2" too far apart to bolt to their stock locations, but the N13 seat was still about as high as the 210 seat, and possibly even FURTHER forward! :-\ I'm currently thinking that my best bet might be bolting individual metal tabs to the front rail- bolt locations of the N13 seats, and then bolting box-section to the rear rail-bolt holes to get some lift for the rear of the seat. And then from there, just bolt the metal tabs through the floor and use washers and backer plates for reinforcement. This'll be a wintertime project, I suppose :)

The main problem I have is that my (large) legs hit the steering wheel pretty badly when driving, and they also don't have enough space to stretch out. My midsection is nowhere close to the wheel though. I currently have to recline the stock seat pretty far back to have enough space for my arms, which feels awkward and probably looks silly.

If you lower the seat, you'll have even *less* room to stretch our your legs! But it would help if your legs hit the steering wheel now.

I'm 6' 1" and have no problem with the stock seats, but I only weigh 180. I can't see overhead stop lights too well though since the roof is fairly low.

For information on mounting other seats, including photos, see Seats for Datsun 1200
