SR20DET Man - Dat sounds real Nasty! I have recently been looking into doing a bluebird diff conversion myself to put behind a CA18DET. Did you use the H190 wagon diff or the
standard bluebird sedan diff? How much did it cost to get the diff shortened? I was under the impression the H190 was required for the Navara LSD? Is that right? Nobody up her in
Newcastle has been able to offer any information. I found the autaomotive listings at www.bearingtraders.com.au very useful for comparing model details. (Similar Bearings-Similar
Diff?)
PS. Have fun when you get it on the street!

Paul: I used the diff out of a series III trx sedan. It cost me a hefty $1200 to get shortened!! At the moment it's the second most expensive item on the car. I was led to
believe that the navara lsd would bolt straight in but I could be wrong, nothings impossible tho :)

PS. I am sure I'll be having lots & lots of fun!

Wow that's quite a bit to get the diff shortened. In the end it'll be worth it though (well I've already spent $7,000, but it's a lot more fun than anything you could buy)
What ratio will the Navara LSD be? ( i have a 3.3:1 ratio with my CA18det at the moment)

Not being rude but it sounds like someone saw you coming. There are a lot of stronger cheaper options out there other than the series 3 bluebird diff how much did it have to
be narrowed and how big where the axles??? the 1500ute for example. I spent $400 fitting the mitsi diff in mine and it handles 300hp no problem

I'm not to sure what I am going to go for yet but I believe there are 3-4 different ratio Navara LSD's. I am also wondering whether there will be a cost difference involved but since
my budget has been shrinking in past weeks it'll be a while until I get around to doing it.

The project has come to a huge halt, I am thinking of ripping the SR out to put in my TRX because my stock CA20 is annoying me, then I'll just have to buy another package to slip in
the 1200. We'll have to wait and see!

Sorry, I should have mentioned that $1200 included purchasing the diff, as well as getting it shortened
and reconditioned. :)

All this talk on LSD's has got me thinking. I have datsun 1600 wagon diff that i had in my old 1200 with a15. It was starting to make noises and stuff when i wrote it off so i was
wondering whether there is an LSD option for these? I dont know if the centers out of the IRS 1600 diffs are the same or completly different. If there isnt, i will have to MIG lock it

Hey Davo,
The 1600 wagon diff head is the same as used in the 1600/2000 Fairlady sports car. There are a few specialists on the web for these cars so finding a slippery diff should'nt be a problem.
I suspect they are the H165 which is the same as The 1200 ute and C20 van(which had an alloy diff carrier in the 1500s)As I've said before you can often find LSDs in the higher specced
versions of the C20s, though quite often they are so stuffed that they will pass the freewheel test and the only way to know for sure is to pull them out of the diff housing to find out
for sure. The last 2 I found were free from the local dump! I would never recommend welding/locking a diff for street use, its wrecks tyres and screws axles to buggery chase the LSD
option.

Okay, here's a bad spot to check for rust/dirt/corrosion....the front sidemarker lights. I've been driving my 1200 around for a while, and all my sidemarker lights worked. I decided to
take the front left one off to get rid of a wax line. When I pulled it off muddy water poured out of it. The light bult was totally rusted to the socket. It's an easy fix, I ripped the old
bulb out (watch the glass!), took apart the socket and stripped all the rust off. I also took the plastic lens inside and scrubbed it with a toothbrush and dish cleaner. I polished the
stainless trim ring and painted the socket with chrome paint. The sidemarker looks brand new now, and is about twice as bright as it used to be. Doesn't take long to do, and even though
it's a little thing it makes the car look better and shows your attention to detail. You better check your sidemarker lights, I never thought mine were that bad!

Thanx, i didnt know they were the same diff. I have one with the alloy diff carrier. The ratio of this thing is like 3.3:1 if i remember correctly. There would have to be a 4.1:1 or
3.9:1 LSD option somewhere. Might have to weld a stocker diff to have fun for a while until i can find an LSD. Wont last a day the way i drive

PS. I am on the hunt for a straight 1200 coupe in the sydney area. engine/box/diff/interior can all be stuffed as there all going to be ripped out.$0 - $1000 range. Rust, not too much.
Let me know if u find one or have one. Thanx.
