hi fellas, i have a few a series bits i'm trying to identify, wanting to know if they are standard or if i have some hot bits.

ported H72?? head with
Ports in: 30mm by 37.5(ish)mm ex: 27mm x 30mm

deck height is roughly 72mm or 73 mm

is that a fairly standard port job?

i also have an a15 block with 4 cracked 1mm o/s pistons. and some sort of nissan electronic dissy (not a bluey one tho) it is quite small.

what else might have been modified or what should i look for... cam? how to i.d. it? clutch or valve springs or anything else. i think it was built by the datsun performance centre in cheltenham if that helps?

i'm thinking of building an a15 efi turbo. just researching at the moment but i have an a 14 standard bottom end as well. i read something about using the crank or something.

i'm trying to work out bottom end and head stuff at the moment.

cheers

Whats the dizzy look like?? Has it got a 'notch' on the gear shaft not cuts or angled slits? It mite be an E15 or N12 dizzy out of the later pulsar models, these have a large black wire hanging out the side and the rotor cap and cap of the unit are smaller (i think) than an A15 dizzy... This mite help in identifying it!!
And is the gear housing HUGE compared to the A15 one coz then im guesing its an N15 one coz they are #### and too big!!

The H72 head is always sort after, look after it and keep it!

Cheers
Dave

little update... cam has H50 stamped in it (looks pretty stock coz of that :( ) the dizzy was in the motor which used to run so it definately is a going unit.

and the head is H75, sorry bout that. they can't be too good coz i have two of them.

do i need a special tool to get the valves out, and is there any reason why i shouldn't take them out? what's involved in fitting larger valves?

cheers a boys!

To take the valves out you usually use this clamping tool which pull the valve spring down so that you can take the collets off.
