My starter motor packed in finally so I rang up Repco for a price on one, thinking $70 or so dollars woudl be resaonable. They got back to me with a price of $295!! I had an a12 one on my a14 maybe reason she died eventually.

Just wondering if anyone else has tried to source one new and if there HT versions or anything like that.

Datsuns parts are becoming gold mines now.... of course a 2nd hand one is an option but just wondering about new ones.

get it reco'd, or exchange from an auto electrician.
I've got 2 in the shed, I'll send you the best looking one for price of postage if you want? cant guarentee it'll work, but both came out of cars that would start.

i once pulled into a servo in my ute and parked along side another 1200 ute, the owner was filling it with petrol while it was running.

he yelled across as i began filling mine 'you havent got a starter for one of these have ya?'

wreckers had quoted him $70 and an autoelec a further $90 to install.

i installed my old a12 starter for him for $70.
he was a happy customer

if your starter is no good. just instal and L series starter with the L series engine attatched of course
