hey guys

i am recently new to the datto's and looking at one for a first car i know my dad used to own one for his first can and he loved it. any way i am just posting to see what are the good and bad qualities of owning one. is the tray big enough to fit a motor bike in it? it is good to drive (cheap handling power)? what should i look out for when i am buying one e.g rust? also how quick are they all my mates a getting hilux's i am just curious how they would compare to them in performance? i have the web address of one that i might buy can you please tell me if this is a good buy and what should i ask the seller?

Yeah thats a nice little ute, it dont say much about it however... read up on here it will tell you everythig that you could want to know...

I know that my ute would run rings around just about any lux, but its a bit of a different ball game, most lux's are built to be low and pimpin, most of the time dattos are built for performance...

best thing that I love about dattos, is that there easy to work on, worst thing... finding parts...

looks like a good little ute!

same colour as mine!

mines a 76 also!

just make sure you have a good look over and under it. more often than not they look a whole lot better in the pictures!

rims look tough too, just needs lowering!

good luck with it

judging by the paint work its had panel and paint recently which is a good thing for you because the rust would've been delt to.
Its already had an a15 conversion which is by far one of the most cost effective and fun conversions you can do to 1200's so another plus there.
Rust, check the bottom of the front quarter panels, thats probably the most common place but also check joins in bodywork, tailgate etc....
As far as performance and handling goes, they are large go karts. They have awsome performance due to their lgiht weight and they are very nimble on their feet so all pluses there.
I suggest you go for a drive in it and see for yourself.

For $6500 im sure it will be a very good example.
Go for gold. Best first car you can have.

DO IT!!!!

The Datsun 1200 has way more respect than any hilux. Your friends will be mega jelous if u get one! They may even end up selling there hiluxs in order to fund a Datsun!

Beware - the 1200's are like a drug tho - once u drive it - you'll be hooked for life!!
