I saw on the news tonight that 49 lives have been lost. Thats pretty hard core. I'm also a (Part time, but not volunteer ) rural fire fighter. We don't have the insane tempratures you guys get, but i can imagine that it must be horriffic. It's bloody hard yakka fighting a fire thats under control. So when it's out of control, and it's 10-15' hotter that what we get, it must be hell. Plus you don't have much water to spare either. my thoughts are with all the people effected. I have family in Vic, so it's not just people in some far away place.

I have been glued to the bloody news for 2 days now and I can't stop thinking about how these ordinary people such as myself have sufferred this terrible loss. The fires came within 500m of my uncles house in wandong and no doubt another uncle has lost his in king lake.

This morning I saw an image up north of the top half of the same model twin cab as my brother in laws noting 2 locals swept away. I can only hope for him in the floods that they are all o.k.

Vic death toll is at 108 and rising rapidly.

My condolences to all involved. Even as a bystander I am mortified by the scale of the destruction and pain that the involved must be suffering.
