In need of some ideas of rear end setups for my drag project from ppl that have had experience if this field before.

She is powered by 12A turbo likely to produce a respectable 500 to 600 HP transfering power will be a KEAS 3 speed AUTO with trans brake but unsure of rear end....ive thought about a nine inch would like the strength but not the added weight if i can help it......

any ideas will be helpfull....cheers

In wiki there is a list of diff's and an Idea of the tourqe they can handle

<--- over there!

Edit: diff inches max. torque capacity
H145 5.71 ~100 lb. ft.
H150 5.91 ~125 lb. ft.
H165 6.50 ~225 lb. ft.
H190 7.49 ~285 lb. ft.
R200 7.88 ~300 lb. ft.
Ford 8 8.00 ~325 lb. ft.
Ford 8.88.80 ~500 lb. ft.
Ford 9 9.00 ~600 lb. ft.

Horsepower is irrelevent for the differential. What matters is the torque:

What about a shortened Borg Warner diff?
There is some really quick VL's out there with a heap of tourque
(and they weigh a lot more than the Datto).
They don't 'suck' as much power as a 9inch either.

I have been told by a very good source that the strongest standard holden diff produced was the VS supercharged V6 diff.
Apparently stronger than any V8, N/A V6 or Straight 6 live axle diff.

dont forget this is also a rotary so its not going to be a torque monster like a v8 id say find out what the torque figures are then find a diff that can handle about 100ft lb more
