I was thinking about this as a possible engine swap for my 1K ute.
RWD? - Check
Turbo? - Check
Engineerable? - Check
Economical - Check
Easy to come by - HELL NO!

I've been looking into it a bit, would be a certainty if they were a 1 litre 4 pot, but a 3 pot 660cc odd turbo engine that has some potential and revs its nuts off would be cool. I just can't find one. I know there were only a handful sold here/imported but I'm thinking that parts later on down the track might become harder to find.

Has anyone had any experience with these engines? Anyone else considered it? I know the motorbike engine idea is cool but this this is designed and run as a RWD.

Trav

suzuki also sold 3cyl na swifts here, but 990cc, some parts may swap over.

They are an ok engine but even tuned they arent that powerful.

no where near a stock ca or anything.

i remeber hpi magazine did one up and even with crazy $$$ at it i think it still only had 100kw atw or something.

in stockish form they are ok.
a ex housmate had one, great sncik snick gearbox and fun to drive, speed de limited was great too. but still only really a 17 or 16 sec 1/4mile car. similar to a mildish a15

Hey Wurzel, Yeah I certainly do, shoot me a PM with your email address and I'll send it through.

As for the Swift GTi engine, aren't the gearboxes required for this conversion quite large? I'm hoping that I don't have to do any tunnel mods (if possible)

So there is a possibility that the Cappuccino RWD gearbox will fit the G13B, is that what you mean?

Im running a g13b in my 1000. I used a sierra box and yes they are large compared to 1000 box. Even if you could bolt a cappucccino box on to a g13b, I don't think it would last 5 seconds and there not the type of spare part you can keep a stock pile in the shed.

If you can get past the tunnel mod, put a g13b in it. G13B ticks all of your boxes, one more than the cappuccino. I think a cappuccino weighs a little less than a 1000 and you have to ask yourself, Do I want to spend all that money and time for a 17 second, 3 cylinder car? Another thing is that a 1000 tunnel is tiny dude. You could hunt around and purchase a cappuccino motor and box and still end up doing a tunnel mod.

If you can't get past cutting you car then just go A15, it will be so much quicker and also ticks all your boxes. You could always fit EFi if thats what your after.

Good luck anyways and if your heart is set on a cappuccino engine then have a crack. It would still be cool.

put a CA in it and be done with it ,if you have to modify the tunnel you might as well do it right the first time !

hhmm i wouldnt mind a CA powered 1000 wags with deep dish wheels and stretched tyres !
