hey guys im talking on be half of a good friend of mine..

i have a problem with my local workshop, the issue is i have a datsun 1200 ute and im doing the CA18det conversion, now i left it there in january 2010 and only today started working on it...

now since that time i have been paitient and always ringing to see how it is, and last week i decided to pull it out and take it home, but suprise suprise he starts to make a jig and what not.

now i told him once i was there that im taking it home today hes response was $1000 bucks storage fee cause we had to push it everywhere,

can he do that as i have been waiting to pick it up for 6 months and hes to slow to start my job?

he has sent no letters stating that the car is ready or did he ever mention a storage fee?

i just wanted my car back

if he didnt say anything about a storage fee its a bit harsh to then say you owe him $1000

i thought you said CAs were crap...why are you paying someone to put one in your car if that is the case?

If he did not give you a written quote for storage or state in writing that storage fee's may apply (if he cant be stuffed getting around to doing your job on time) then he MAY be liable to pay you for any inconveniences that the delays have caused you, you would have to prove this of course.
Going from what you have posted, give him the finger, take the car and throw the bill in his face.

As much as I hate saying this- speak to Business and Consumer affairs-

tell your mate to give BOTH sides of the story and find out what their opinion is. I own a business where customers cars may be stored and as far as it being legal it has to agreed upon before commencement of work or when situation arises. ( which doesn't include what's happened to him)

it would smell very much like the business in question is now trying to recoup lost income on your mate taking the work of them.

Hopefullyhe gets it out of there quick

yeah get a few mates together and just go round there and say you are taking it. not like he can really stop you from taking your own car if he hasnt done anything to it
