Does anyone know if a front sway bar off of an 81 B210 will fit my 73 coupe? Would it benefit me? It sure looks thicker than the one I've got. Any info is appreciated.

B210 (120Y) sway bars fit straight on. You will need the rubbers and shackles from the B210.

The bar doesn't fit on a CA18 equipped 1200, as it hits on the sump, due to the 'turned up' front of the B210 swaybar.

I was lucky on the 1200 I drive now, it has the 20mm bar.

roughneck,
the B210's 20mm bar represents a 100% increase in rate over the standard B110 17mm bar (ie it's twice as stiff). It is a little wider, but should not be a problem even with the standard 1200 lower control arms. Just bear in mind that stiffening the front will change the car's balance more towards understeer (or less oversteer). depends on the rest of your suspension setup obviously.

dattodude,
you should be able to fit it with the CA. try turning the bar over. if that's not enough, you can space it away from the chassis with some alloy plates, as long as it is not too drastic it won't cause any problems.

Thanks alot guys, really appreciate the info. My suspension setup right now is totally delapidated. I honestly think that everything on there is original. So, I'm trying to replace everything, but upgrade at the same time. Well, I guess I'll buy new sway bar and link bushings for the 210 parts and get everything installed. Having said all that, do you think replacing all these parts will keep the 185/70/13 tires from scraping in the front whenever I pull into my driveway? Thanks again for the info.

Yes, the B210/120Y bar fits ... but will it make a difference that the 1981 car is not a B210? The 210 (B310) looks to be a little wider all round.

Oh... best advice then is to take a tape measure to your local wrecker/junkyard and see for yourself

I think you'll find that it won't fit, without heating and bending it to the same shape as the skinnier stock one but it can be done.

I think the 81 car should be a 210(b310).
I'm curious to know if it will fit. I never bothered to look.
