Does anyone know what the A14 Crank Big End Diameter is supposed to be? You know, where the rear crank seal runs. Also, the diameter of the FS5W60A main drive gear where the front oil seal runs.... These are both leaking badly even though they're both correct and brand new...

Hey lowtech u will find over time u end up with a groove in the shaft where the lip of the seal runs, if u can move the seal in a bit further it should seal again or try a speedy sleeve...

Thanks for the reply but there is no groove, it's a fresh motor. I didn't measure it because it wasn't scored, but it didn't look machined. I am thinking now that it must have been machined undersized at sometime. I'd like to verify what size it should be versus what it is.

It is supposed to be 60 mm

The crankshaft big end is not supposed to be machined, at least Nissan didn't/doesn't have oversized seals.

12279-H2301 is for all A12/A14/A14 engines.

specifications
* Shaft Size 60 mm

Why not put a seal sleeve on it? For those who don't know, it's a thin steel band that goes over the worn seal surface and restores it to as new. It's a whole lot easier than replacing the part, and a lot less expensive. Timken makes one their part number is KWK99235. I'm sure that others make one also.

Yes thanks, I've already got one. I just want to verify that this is the problem. The stupid engine's already been out twice now for inspection. I want to make sure that this is the last time.
P.S. Thanks for the info DD!

Probably best try the seal sleeve on the front and see if it cures it before taking the engine out, that way at least you know the front seal doesnt work then you pull the engine out to check the crank and go from there etc.

Im still waiting for some bigger pics of that beast the best coupe on this forum and universe

Thanks D!
The front of the engine isn't leaking.. Back of the motor, and the front of the gearbox is..
