i read somewhere on this site that A10 HP is 69, which makes it equal to A12, can anyone tell me its true or not?
does this makes a stock 1000 faster then B210? provided both r coupe models. as 1000 is with lighter body!

The A10 is 66hp (this is what the plate on my B10 says), and the A12 is 69hp.
I don't know about the L16, except maybe different countries got different versions of this engine that have different hp ratings.

Yeah the plate in my VB10 says 62hp at 6000 rpm! so that should tell us that the wagon is slower than a B10!

the one thing that you need to remember is that the HP ratings were measured differently, the A10 was measured "At the Flywheel" where as the A12, A13, A14, and A15 were measured at the rear wheels with all the accessories and emissions controlls hooked up and operating.
this is comparing apples to oranges.
in late 1970 the measuring standard was changed to the NET rating (as in at the rear wheels) by the SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) to more accurately reflect actual available horsepower.
and yes this applies to all parts of the world for all manufacturers

The horsepower ratings are different for different countries for various reasons:

- US: SAE standard
- Europe: DIN standard
- Japan: yet another
- different emission controls

Take it all with a grain of salt. 70 HP in 1970 is about 60 hp in 1971 ratings. At least in the US, they measured gross hp (engine w/o accessories) before this, and net (engine with all accessories and exhaust system) after.

i though it was flywheel!
that means my motor is barely better than stock as it would have about 75hp at the wheels, thats CRAP!!! i need a better motor if that ratings at the wheels

Nobody said "at the wheels"

In the US it's net output of the engine, but with all the accessories on. This is measured at the engine, and doesn't take into account the transmission or differential.

That's one reason why the newer Corvette 300hp smallbock is faster than the old Corvette 370 hp smallblock. The hp rating is derived differently from 1970. Also that the the newer motor has more "torque/power under the curve" ... those lying hp figures! You can't trust 'em!
