here goes,

as most of you can see i always post about my engine a 1200 datsun, and never speak about my car or ask questions, thats cause i have a long wheelbase beach buggy with my datto motor in the back with the standard 1600 gearbox, i'm soon putting a 1300 gearbox in to give me more driveability. my rims have been powder coated black with 185/60/14 on the rear and 165/80/13 up front.

the car handles like a demon, not many cars can catch me through a corner. it's completly white with a black roof, the only crap thing is the brakes i can stop too well and when it rains i #### myself, so if anyone can help on that subject please post it for me.

the greatest advantage is that my whole car only weighs +-600kg's so power to weight is pretty good

my next mods are going to be fit a 1400 play with the motor abit put bucket seats in it and maybe disk brakes up front :P

so now that know about my car dont look down on me at heart it's still a datsun!!!

What do you have for brakes? Also when you say beach buggy what exactly is it??? Buggy to me means two seat tube frame sand rail/ off road race car.If your monster has VW beatle drums like most buggys I know , go to disk brake set up this will eliminate your problem. Drum brakes do not work well in the rain.

Tom
PS it has an A-series motor so it makes it relevant.

I have an EMPI IMP buggy and cannot see a 1200 drive line working w/out cutting away the rear fiberglass. (besides plumbing for a radiator, reversing the gears, etc) What exactly do you have???? Must see pics.........EDIT: are you mid-engine???

what it is, is a standard beetle right, here in S.A you get fibreglass bodies that fit straight on to the beetle chassis. i then got a adapter plate made it bolts onto my 1200 and got the beetle fly wheel modified to fit the 1200. then it bolts straight in like a normal beetle engine. as for the pluming the radiator sits right behind the engine will the stock cooling fan keeping it cool. i'll try get pics for you guys to show what i mean.

OK now I understand , you have Meyers Manx style dune buggy. Get rid of the drum brakes they are awful. Disc brakes conversions are availible. Even on my old Formula Vee the brakes were just acceptable. Also if you use them hard the brakes need constant adjusting.

Tom

PS we really are dying to see pictures , sounds like a fun car.

nicholas, just use type 3 brakes front & rear, they should be a bolt one,but if not,try emailing some of the australian volkswagen sites for suggestions.the vw scene is very big here, but just dont mention it's got anything other than a beetle motor,as they're all psychotic that way, personally.a friend used this combination on his beetle with the 1.9 litre motor,& he road raced & hillclimbed it for years.just wished he had a site so i could put you on to him.
