hey people got stuck into the 1000 today .
what ive noticed is theres very little rust in it for a car its age ,Also found they used red oxide as a primer under the paint which would help alot .
the previous owner had some odd ideas and cut some of the lhs dash facia out and threw it out (god only knows why) he also decide th throw the front seats out and chop the wiring loom up .Yay for me ..........
I need a bit of a hand > Can i drop my 120y engine(dizzy at rear of the block) and 4sp box straight in will i need to get a engineers report .
The good things about it > its an import and amoungst the junk in it I found all this weird paper work ,I found a tag with a piece of string attached and a picture of the stereo ,obviously for the showroom ,also has the am stereo but it was left in the boot well and got all wet damn.........
Did the 1000 come with a centre console?
The car has all the badges chrome moulds and it even came with the steel sunviser ........

drop it in, just about.. the engine mounts need a few mods, legal, one would assume.. but I don't know what it's like in QLD..
center console, mostly NO, a JDM Deluxe Coupe had a console..

go the Visor.. I've never had one of those..

pretty much all you need to do is modify the engine mounts, i'm pretty sure you don't need an engineers cetificate but it different from state to state, just check with the DOT to be sure.

Yeah i think the sunviser is deffinately an odd part its slowly growimg on me .........
I also need the indicators that go in the guards are they hard to get and where can i get them from ....cheers geoff

Geoff,if you feel so inclined,on Sunday pop into the dirt sprints at our club(I.W.M.A.C.)between the kart track and Queensland raceway(if it's not raining)spectators are free and there is food for the tribe.
Matty should be there in my old KB10,my 1200 coupe, and our old 1000 wagon all competing and all with variations(mine)of modified engine mounts.
Competition from around 10am-till about 3pm bring a camera so you don't forget what you see and feel free to pump me for info.
Cheers
Rob

The other thing you'd have to do is the clutch arm. With my 1000 race car we used a 120y clutch cable & the piece the cable goes through from a 1200. This had been started by the previous owner & I just cleaned it up a bit. The only problem was that the 1000 firewall curved at this point & the 1200 part was straight. Just needed a bit of massaging of the 1200 part. Hopefully you have a hole in the transmission tunnel for the 120Y box.
