I received this message via Facebook this morning after posting on Duplicolors wall asking about clear coats. They promptly responded with this:

Hey Matt,

My name is Steve. I work with Dupli-Color. I responded to your message that you posted on our Facebook page. I wanted to send you a private message regarding your plan to use RustOleum on your car. This is something we wouldn't recommend, especially the roll-on application they promote. If you're using a HVLP spray gun we would recommend the Dupli-Color Paint Shop line. It is specifically formulated for automotive applications, and on top of that it is easy to use.

As a thank you for being our fan on Facebook, I'd like to offer you some Paint Shop product. Attached is a link to our color offering. Let me know what color you want, where to ship it, and the type of vehicle (so I know how much paint to send) and I'll send you the product for free. All we would ask is that you post some pics on Facebook when you're done.

Paint Shop requires the use of a HVLP spray gun as well.

I ended up picking the Candy Apple Red. :)

That's what I was thinking, but my 82 RX7 Dash that I'm putting in is red, and I've already started painting my car with that black and red theme, so I figured I'd go ahead for the red.

So are you gonna do the roll on thang anyway???

I loved reading that Moparts painting on a budget thread, never got all the way through.

Here's the link for any that haven't read it.

Thats a sweet thread!

I'm not doing roll on here. I got an gun to spray it on. I figure, it's expensive paint. I'll do this the right way.

That reminds me, I need to update my build thread.

Thanks man! I'll update my build when I spray it on.

Got a reply back today from the guy again..

"Hey Matt, the Candy Apple Red is a great looking color. Being a Candy color the application is a little different. It is a 4-step process. Primer, Candy Metallic Silver Base Coat, Candy Apple Red, and Clear Coat. I'll send you a quart of black as well.

Here's a video of the Candy Coat system. Let us know if you have any questions. You should get the product in a week or so.
