Anyone know if a bw68 diff has an LSD option? Tossing up between this or go all out with a r31 LSD bw78 with disc brakes etc for my 120y. Would prefer the BW as it will bolt straight in, but the skylone one is tempting future proofing in case i decide to go sr down the track, thanks

No easy bw68 option. I have a welded 4.1 ke70 bw68 here but kazz did make one for the same bw68 in Holden gemini. I found a dealer that had one for $1600. More than I could justify at the time.

Bw78 is heavy and if you are running a or l series it really is unnecessary weight that will kill any benefit of having a lsd

R31 diff is actually a BW75 not a 78
Regardless.. you need abit of power to push (or is that drag) them around

The owner of that famous a honda s600 with supercharged twin cam four banger has a nine inch with strange alloy carrier and calculated on another forum the 9 inche is lighter than a R31 diff when without brakes and similar length.

For most a H165 ute diff is enough with topgear viscous lsd

has anyone actually done a weight comparison with say a bw68 or H165 to a shortened r31 diff? still tossing up diff options as this h145 locker isnt going to last long, and I cant find any LSD option for the BW68.

Thanks

the r31 diff is a lot bigger an heavier than a h165 an a 9" is even bigger again an it is not lighter than r31 so I don't know where people get there sums from

Really?
I thought the R31 skidline diffs were 4 pinion LSD? Making them the 28 spline Type 78?
I would love to get my hands on a four pinion lsd nugget for my charger.

Pintara are 25 spline
Skyline are 28 spline
They are both M75 diffs as can be seen marked on the crownwheel... 0575
Commodores are the same M75
Some late crewman and Falcons run the M78 diff.. crownwheel part numbers marked 0578 and do not interchange gears
However... the centre swaps between the housings. New LSD units are still avail in 28 spline. So too are lokka and trutrack styles

R31 Skyline Silhouette was the only factory LSD 4 pinion version of the R31 diff.
Most Commodores however are 4 pinion (Fords are usually 2)
