In the United States, the car model year traditionally starts in October. However, per government regulation, a car can be called a "2008" model if manufactured on or after January 2nd, 2007 (reference: wikipedia:Model year).
The B110 had an 1970 introduction, and this could be named after the current season 1970), the upcoming season (1971), or occasionally some makers would call this a "1/2 year" model (e.g. the 1964-1/2 Ford Mustang introduction).
