Rear suspension tends to 'tramp' (hop up and down) when large amounts of torque are applied. If you have an engine more powerful than stock, to minimize tramp you can fit anti-tramp rods a.k.a. Traction Bars.

Slapper Bars
The famous Lakewood traction bar:
The traditional street/track setup is like this:
'Slapper Bar' Street/Dragstrip Setup
Slapper Bars are like the Caltracs & Datsun Comp setup, except the front is not solidly mounted to the chassis. It doesn't interfere with normal suspension unless wind-up occurs. Plus it has a little "play" so that it hits, it slaps, bites down to help traction.
Not difficult to make yourself: 1-3/4" square tubing, Hyundai H100 tray stops. Custom U-Clamps. Double nuts or locknuts on all u-clamps for extra security. These had a big difference at the rear when launching and take off!
Anti-Tramp Bars
This commercially designed anti-tramp system is similar to the Datsun Comp design.
CalTracs
CalTracs are the most innovative traction bar units today, often imitated, but never duplicated. Calvert Racing manufactures and distributes the world famous Caltracs traction bars.
