Revision as of 01:52, 31 December 2006
Just as the PB110 was the Excellent variant of the B110, equipped with an L-Series OHC instead of an A-Series OHV engine, so was the PB210 the Excellent variant of the next generation of Sunny, the B210.
The B210 Sunny replaced the B110 Sunny for the 1973 JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) model year, and the PB210 Excellent was made available the following year.
(Note that most export markets were at least one year behind the JDM as far as their new model changeovers were concerned.)
Unfortunately, as was the case with the PB110, the PB210 was also never intended for sale outside of Japan.
As with the PB110, the PB210 featured a longer wheelbase, that allowed an increase in engine compartment length, and equipped with the larger 1400cc Nissan L14 OHC (OHC) engine.

Sunny Excellent 1400 (PB210)
For 1974-75, the PB210 wore "Excellent" badging and was equipped with a 1400cc L-series engine.
Model designations were PB210 (4-dr Sedan) and KPB210 (Coupe).
Drivetrain options were L14S (Single-carb) engine with Automatic or manual trans. or L14T (Twin-carb) engine with manual trans. only.
To avoid competitive overlap, the short wheel base (SWB) B210 Sunny's came with a 1200cc A-Series engine.
The PB210 Excellent was initially available in DX, GL or GX trim levels. The GX used a sport instrument cluster with individual guages, similar to the ones found on the SWB Sunny GX.

Sunny Excellent GX Coupe
Just like the PB110 Excellent line, the PB210 Excellent was available in Coupe and 4-dr sedan versions.
Here's a closeup of the unique Excellent tail lights for the sedan:
Here is a rear shot of both a green SWB B210 Coupe and a red Excellent PB210 Coupe for comparison:
(Note the "Excellent" round taillights.)
PB210 DX/GL grille
Note the "S" emblem (for Sunny) on the grille. GX models were equipped with foglights integrated into the front grill.
Both GL and GX trim Sunny Excellents were equipped with a unique center console not available in the SWB lineup:

Sunny Excellent 1600
Oddly, for 1976-1977 Nissan changed the Sunny Excellent from a distinct vehicle model (PB210) to simply a trim-level option for the regular B210.
This year had L16 engine and H165 differentials. The engine is a L16S, meaning Single-carb L16. A Twin-carb version was not offered.
1600 GL 4-dr sedan (GB211GT w/F4W63 4-speed & GB211GA w/3N71B automatic & GB211GF w/FS5W63A 5-speed 1600 GX (GB211JT w/F4W63 & GB211JF w/FS5W63A). Also came in Coupe form (K) with same trim/transmission choices
Same taillights as PB210
New is Rally wheels (not sure if they are steel or alloy, but they didn't use wheel covers).
Grille is unique, but not by much. This isn't the twin-mouth grille of the PB210.
Hood has the PB210 "vents", but is not peaked in front as was the PB110.
Excellent also came in different trim levels. This one is a GX. Note the "Honeybee" style hubcaps and 1600 emblem, designating a later model with L16 engine.

Davie also has a PB210 Excellent.
Nissan South Africa: 140Z and 160Z
That's right, Nissan South Africa produced their own special, and what a looker it was! If only Nissan worldwide had sold this car...
Nissan South Africa sold a customized version of the PB210, named 140Z. Later they had the 160Z version.
