The precise-shifting 5-speed transmission gearbox gets power, performance and economy out of Datsun's 1.5 liter engine which runs on any gas. But now there's something new. You don't have to sacrifice the convenience of P-R-N-D-L to save M-O-N-E-Y at the pumps. Datsun 210 offers you the 3 speed automatic transmission with a new feature for 1981 a fuel saving "lock-up torque converter". Simply stated, this enables 210 to combine the convenience of automatic transmission shifting at low speeds with the economical benefit of a direct-drive (hydraulic lock-up) at higher speeds. When the speed of the 210 exceeds 60 kilometers per hour (37 MPH) the system changes to direct-drive. This eliminates loss of power through the slippage of a conventional automatic and substantially increases fuel economy thus making 210 one of Canada's most gas-efficient automatics.
The 210 Wagon and Hatchback give you these extra features: sport steering wheel, console, map pockets in the doors and wheel trim rings plus added cargo space with a split rear seat that folds down for long loads, big dogs or small fry.
