side veiw of the x-members. 120Y on left, 180B on right.
shows the relative alignments of the lower control arms relative to x-member mounting position. All lines up perfect in car using the forward set of chassis mounts in the 120Y from the factory. gotta love Datsuns! This is too easy...
180B uses pin type lower arm mounts (same as the 1600/510).
Any of the commonly used struts can be bolted onto the 180B steering arms: Stanza, Skyline, 240K, 200B, etc

120Y A series x-member in foreground 180B L series x-member at rear. you will need a 180B sump & oil pickup as well.
photos taken when I was building my 120Y coupe project, which I sold unfinished to a friend.
120Y body has an extra set of mounting holes a bit further forward for the 180B x-member.
when buying the x-member, get the mounting plates/bolts and castor rods as well. |

I had some spare time at work. I made the adapter and stick to move the fulcrum point up about 1.25"/31.75mm. The stock shifter moved about 6-7" from 1st to 2nd, now it moves only 3". Side to side movement is still the same as before. It has taken me a few days to get used to. The throw is so short, it's difficult to go from second to third and from fourth to fifth. I tapped the original holes for the fulcrum pin with an M10x1.5 and used short flathead/countersunk M10 screws to mount it. |
