Mmmmmm, and the sexy'est'est angle of a 1200, and possibly any car for that matter. Shake it...
Now I only have to find the rear window rubber, they damaged the old one when they took it out, but it was also crumbling in places anyway. I had them shave the boot lock for me, as I will be implanting some solenoid or cable system to open it up. I want to try and replace the springs that open the boot with those little shocks all the new car have. This will also be attempted with the bonnet. |

The a-frame bolts into the original bumper holes, I just drilled them out to except larger high tensile bolts, which will also be used to bolt the bumper back on. They did an excellent job of blending the spoiler into the fenders. I also got new chrome beading that goes onto the fenders by the lights.
On the way home I had a new windscreen fitted. The lady said they didn't sell these old windscreens anymore, and also didn't want to believe me that the 1400 UTE's(which is still made and sold over here) windscreen fits. Only after they took one out and fitted it did she believe me... |

Hey, is looking nice... They did an excelent job of fixing up all of the rust, and the colour is stunning. I built the a-frame myself, and it works a charm. Snuck through the back roads to get it there and home again... |

Here you can see the angles involved. Unfortunately number 1 and 2 cylinders' gasses will have to make a slight turn when entering the ports, but fortunately the gasses will also hit these ports head on, so that should help a little. Big ports anyway, so it shouldn't make a difference.Top right you can see what I mean by the ports being hit directly.
Bottom left is the back of the plenum..duh and bottom right shows that front...double duh. However, this little AL plate was also the most difficult to make, as the angled part of the plenum makes a rounding here, but where it meets the intake port, it's flat. I first tried to hammer a piece of the AL pipe to fit, bit that broke with about the second blow. Then tried a piece of AL plate, which lasted about 10 knocks before breaking.
I then had a bit of liquid bread, to get the patience levels up if you know what I mean, and took about 30 minutes shaping another piece of AL plate to fit. The rest was just sawing at the right angles.
Had it al welded up at a local engineering shop, still don't know how much it'll cost, because I still have to make the throttle mounting plate and have it welded as well. |

Hi sorry for posting pics of a Toyota engine on here, but that's also unfortunately what will be transplanted into my 1200.
I decided that the guys that build the intakes, they use the old SC intake anyway, charge far to much, and started doing it myself. I had the intake cut of about 40mm from the surface of the flange, and had this 101x4mm plenum welded to it. Then cut the backside at an angle to fit past the brakebooster, and made that plate.
The front was a little more tricky, as the piece that comes out at an angle wasn't cut at an angle to fit the rest of the plenum, but was hammered to more or less follow the oval shape created by the angle cut. |

These guys aren't very safety conscious, when I arrived to see what they've been up to, they actually had the front of the car on the drum. they did this to do the rubberizing under the car. In the time it took me to run out and fetch my camera, they let the front down, and picked the back up. This was done by 3 guys, one on each side to pick up, and one to move the drum. I took the pics, and got out of there before the car could fall on somebody, and I was somehow held responsible.
Now I'm seriously starting to think about having some more weight over the rear wheels to get more grip... |

I bought new UTE fenders, and they were fitted. You can also see the spoiler here I had fitted here, may help a little with undercar turbulance...
The packet on the radiator cradle is the bonnet latches, the intercooler sits right where the old catch was, and interferes with the catch when closing |
