I didn't know about the "more comp" on the 1000 coupe motors, I better keep the one sitting in the garage then. I only pulled it out coz the thermostat housing had a hole in it.. (oh and I had a 1200 sitting there)

Yes i have quite a collection of bits now! These will hopefully be going in my coupe once i get the engine running! and sorted out a lot of wiring faults! It's got a rebuilt a10 with oversize 1200 pistons and the head and block have both been shaved to the deck to raise the compression up again. the bottom end had been balanced and the rest will be stock for now! got to get it through regency before i can register it!

 Re: A-series Twin Carb Manifold
I saw a setup like this, with the same manifold at a swap meet many years ago & meant to get it, but was distracted & it was sold when i got back. I have regretted it ever since as this setup will still give even the 1000 engine a nice little pep-up in performance. Twin SU types are a good upgrade. Even the factory thought so, & imitation is the best form of compliment.

Note that it seems to have actually been developed for the 1000 [hence the model number] as there is no provision for EGR. The 1000 used draught tube crankcase ventilation.
You know, of course, 1000collector, that i have just the engine that this was intended for.

Can I say "Cute" without being unfriendly?

There is plenty of room there for the PCV to be tapped in. . . Do it for your kids!

No, keep it originalish, there aren't enough of these left. . . I say originalish as LYNX were aftermarket, although still of the era.

It looks like you have been sold 2 LH carbs..the float bowls should be on the outsides of the carbs to allow a linkage to run between the carb bodies.

This is quite normal as carbs were frequently sourced from two examples of the same model of donor car that would have had a single carb.
Mini's, Morris Minors & other BMC cars were popular donors & there were a few who were lucky enough, or rich enough, to get the whole setup from a Sprite, MG Midget, or more likely one of the Cooper S Minis. See, these cars were good for something after all.

Those who bought two separate carbs ended up with a setup like this, while the rich kids got the matched pair of opposite sided carbs. My set is like this & it seems that i will need to post a pic. of it.

If the price on the manifold is the price paid, then it was a good buy.

Datsun 1000 collector you seem to be getting a good selection of 1000 engine performance parts ,I hope to see this put to good use some time soon.

Hopped up 1000 engines are conspicuous by their absence on this site.

 Re: A-series Twin Carb Manifold
The 1000 coupe engine is the better base to start from if for no other reason than the fact that they had half a point more compression, at 9 to 1, than the others with their feeble 8.5 to 1.
The stock 1000 cam had marginally better specs than the 1200 cam too. I think it had a whisker more lift.

Maybee i should have bought the balanced crank, rods, & pistons when they became available at a very reasonable price recently. Oh well,.. too late now.

Interesting. Looks a lot like the LYNX M137 listed on this site: http://www.carburetion.com/LynxManifolds.asp. Feral Errol sent me this pic of the M137:
Looks the same to me. I wasn't sure it was right because it's marked D1000 but now I know why!

 Re: A-series Twin Carb Manifold
Oops on second thought these aren't quite the same. Yours has the vertical bolt pattern typically found on the HS2 SU carbs (1.25" bore), where as this one has the 4 bolts that will allow you to bolt up the diagonal HS4 type carbs (1.5"). This must be a different manifold. Then again, I have seen some 1.5" SU carbs with the vertical bolt pattern but those were all H4 carbs, not HS4. Could you check the bore on the carbs and on the manifold? I'm interested in seeing what you've got. THanks
michael

Have a look at the other D 1000 photos. The carb mounting face is drilled with six holes & these will mount the four hole, square flange type, the vertical flange type [as shown] as well as the diagonally flanged types.
I tried one of my 1200 GX carbs on my manifold last night & it fitted just fine.

I suspect that the M137 manifold has the same drillings.
