The head gaskets only about 1000k old so this shouldnt be a problem, unless something else has happened under there im not aware of

I need to drive the ute to the tuners tommrow (2 kilometers away) so should this be that depremental to the engine if i was to do this?

bad sign dave One I know a little too well ..... A number of causes, but hard to tell from here. Check head porting, timing case where water pump mounts, trueness of head, trueness and cleanliness of block ..... You probably could drive to the tuners as long as the oil on the dipstick is not 'caffe latte'
Good luck,
Cherrs

 Re: Milkshake?
This is very minor most likely to be condensation especially with it being winter...
When I had my breather hose fitted to an oil surge tank, I found when i drained it periodically, there was water build up in the bottom of the tank suggesting condensation.
The best way to check it for a blown gasket is a compression test with a good screw in type hose adapter.
But I believe you will be ok...

Dave,
is there just condensation on the cap ?? I thought I could see milky oil around the locking tangs - if no milky oil then disregard my ramblings. If there is then comments stand.
Cheers mate.

 Re: Milkshake?
Yes i do have a breather hose filter type on the rocker cover. This picture was taken after about 5 minutes of the engine running (bout 2 hours ago now) while i was doing a spot of timing and tuning.

I bloody hope its ok hey, the dipstick has only the golden yellow colour of new oil and a few bubbles here and there but nothing too evident i can see
I dont have a compression tester but the motor was looked at about 2 months ago (prior to the stripdown it needed to replace piston bearing, thats all fixed now) so im sure that compression is still there.... well i assume so!!

I'll still drive it but im worried! And i have a problem that after the engines been running for bout 2 mins, it starts to backfire irregulary and pops everynow and then. The engine hasnt been tuned or checked yet (thats the reason for tommra) so yeah any safeties i can ensure just for the short drive tomra morning?

Ill let oil pressure and temp come up a bit before driving and not rev much at all, spose thats all i can do hey!?

Cheers guys
Dave

It's not anything your in TAS it's condensation just thats it.

Mine was worse than that it happens if you dont drive your car for a couple of days if you have a breather.
