It runs, and strong to! Bit of tuning to do but only let it run for bout 10 or so seconds due to a small leak from the 1st carb onto the extractors. fuel + heat = bad time!

Re: A15 in the ute & running (just)
Picked up a '75 Gemini radiator for $50 today as my old 323 one was mcf*ked. Fits a treat and good solid core aswell, no grass seeds or random bugs attached to the front of it also so that was a bonus.
The fuel setup is quite, umm..,uhh dodgy to say the least! I would really quite like a holey fuel reg and to run braided lines behind the head rather than in front but thats in due time.
Taken off the fan so need to get some sort of thermo fan & attach it to the rad, anyone know of old wrecked cars that have good 10" thermos?

Another thing i have to worry/think for the future is my ignition. Points just dont cut it at all! I reckon the best option, save my pennies & buy one of these suckers Nice

Now its just fixing the odd ends, linkages, putting the front back on, getting it tuned and the exhaust hooked up... then finito!
Lets just say im bloody happy its almost over and that i can drive my oversized go kart once again !!

Any comments welcome
Cheers
Dave

Oh and i have a short video but it seems to be being a bitch on photobucket...ill try and upload it later and tell yas.

If you had to do it all over again what would you do better second time around?

Or in otherwords - what did you #### up and wish you hadn't.

Signed Wondering...

Re: A15 in the ute & running (just)
I duno if this is a serious question but ill reply in hoping it is!
Gosh where do i start.....
1. umm firstly make my own mounts i reckon. The mounts that were on the A12 i pulled out i just wacked on the A15 which work fine and are sturdy as but unattractive and not that functional.
2. Umm replace all boots/bushes and balljoints in the front, err get my fuel & ignition setup done before i put the engine in.
3. When dropping the engine in, attach the gearbox first instead of trying to align the input shaft with the box already in place (it was shear lazyness).
4. Make sure ALL wiring is fully functional, clean, in the right place and the terminals all good. I know the A12 wiring is practically the same (if not less with the twin 40's) i just feel i should have paid more attention to detail before i did it. I really didnt think COMPLETLEY what i was doing, just need the thing on the road so i chucked it in there!
5. Find a good sized radiator that will fit and not foul on the bonet, fan or rad support.
6. Sort out the clutch BEFORE putting the engine in (i fear i may have to pull the box to figure out my throw out bearing now i can only hope i have enough throw for the clutch)

Thats all i cant think of off the top of my head but theres other odd little ends that common sense takes care of, pity thats amiss for me alot!

Cheers
Dave

Plenty of good info there DD - I'm about to drop my engine in shortly - an A14 in my case. Just thought I'd try and learn from someone elses mistakes rather than my own for a change.

Hadn't thought to do much work to the front end....with the engine out though it's a good point a lot easier to do than once the motor is in.
