From "USA & Canada" parts book

I see one thing missing from this car. Also there is a part here that is not USA-specification...can you name them?

I forgot the questions
.... but you guys provided more answers than I dreamed of.

Oh now I remember:

> I see one thing missing from this car.

I was thinking about the side mirror. By USA federal law it was required. Datto7 wins the title of Chief Datsun 1200 Inspector ('Cd12i').

Did anyone mention that the front side lamp is too small for USA? We have "big" sidelights, presumably for safety.

Im guessing the deluxe would of came fitted with a radio.
Seems logical and I thought the same thing when looking at this photo. Unfortunately Deluxe meant "no carpets, radio or clock". Radio was optional, most here didn't come with one, so we can conclude this photo is of a poverty pack "Deluxe" model. Aren't we glad the 70s are over and done with?

Something tells me that the hubcaps may not be US spec.

Actually the hubcaps look right for the US market. It seems there were may have been slight variations of color on these "GL" hubcaps, but my car (and most sedans here) had them:

Its missing the Aerial on the pillar. LHD still have it located on the rightside pillar, But this RHD negative still shows it missing. Im guessing the deluxe would of came fitted with a radio.

The light that goes under the Datsun badge on the rear panel in US models is not fitted.

Front fender side light is Jap spec, not North American spec.
For Aussies this is a blinker light but for the US it is just a side marker light.

ha, funny one Tyrie.

Dman, you found an extra one, the missing rear side light. I hadn't noticed that.

There's one other thing missing...

where are the bumper rubber things?
edit:
Is that a reversed "S" on the grill and a cut and pasted Datsun emblem on the side?

You guys have eagle eyes.

Yes, in the original I can tell it is a "S" badge, I thought it was "D" but a closer look says no. And the rear side Datsun badge doesn't look right.

This looks like a LHD car, so maybe it was the prototype for the LHD versions...

I'll bet it was easier to just flip the negative over, retouch a couple of things and call it a LHD

I'm thinking its missing a passenger seat and a side mirror?

EDIT: just saw the coupe page and these guesses were taken! DOH!

Shouldn't the exhaust pipe be visible from here?

Have we sufficiently beat this horse to death?

 Re: Datsun 1200 2-Door Sedan
This exact same image is in my parts book too, except it's right drive & viewed from the right side. The side without the exhaust pipe.

It seems obvious now that these are right drive cars, probably JDM ones at that, & the photographic negative has been reversed to create a left drive image. Some relatively simple work puts a Datsun emblem on the rear quarter & boom boom, instant left drive cars.

This is also why we don't see the exhaust pipe, we're actually looking at the right side of the car[s]
This is why the 'S' emblem is backwards in the left drive images.

This image depicts a DeLuxe model in my parts book & I think that US models came with bumper over-riders on DeLuxe models, .... or were they options/ accessories?
