Here is the engine painted and installed along with the help of a supercheap tackle a few beers and Teretongas encouragement. Note the large porting...and this head has large valves and double valve springs as well. It was all in the car when I bought it.....for $1300

man I would love to do a project like this, I mean properly, totally striped shell and a totally clean start. It would be nice to plant it properly so you could do all the welding (cage seams and suspention mounts) then paint the whole thing. OHHH it would be a thing of dreams!
Sorry Im a neat-freek and hate old cars that are dusty and dirty no matter how much you clean them.

Yeah the battery will still be relocated and I considered removing the battery mount, however I thought it would be a good place to set an oil catch tank and when I go injected, it would be good place for the swirl tanks etc...
Yeah this car was completely scratched and crazed and needed the body work so I didnt have a choice....but go for a complete srtip down.

I don't like the look of that engine mount. Find a RWD mazda 626, they have a nice big round one. I highly reccomend them. I went thru 6 standard mounts on a street car before I swapped to the larger mount, 8 or so years ago. . . The drivers side is fine left standard as you are pushing the engine onto it.

I use the same factory ones in this pic, in my race car...........I replaced them about 10 years ago..........never had a problem.

i use factory mounts on my 120y rally car, but had made up chains around the mounting points so if they do brake the engine cant go far, my mounts broke last rally and cost me a good a15 head because when the mounts broke, the extractors hit a heater hose and put a nice hole in it. I guess i had a choice to stop the car and have a look but i wanted to finish the stage and take my class win

Looks like this mount has a limiter or something on it. Actually, it looks like a sway bar link.

yep, just a sway link as a limiter..... it was a GX-R option!!!
