Thanks for all the encouraging words blokes, & to answer Lagwagons question, yes, it's two pack epoxy paint.
As i have writen earlier, this is a quick fix project gone horribly wrong. Every time i looked at something that was starting to look good, it made the parts around it look bad, so i need to fix that up too, & so it goes on & on.

Current thoughts include a few stainless fasteners in the engine bay,.... oh all right then,... a lot of stainless fasteners, with black powder coated sump, along with the crossmember & suspension bits. The block in white, but i'm not sure about the rocker cover, the timing case or the water pump. The head is to be in nice clean aluminium, while the GX exhaust manifold will be black porcelain.

Oh God,...this is just geting completely out of hand isn't it. It's becoming a classic example of how to build a $5,000 car for only a $20,000 outlay.

Still more paint to go on & the black areas are still to be done.
For those that have been following along, this is the Pale Gray colour that i have mentioned several times. It's the original colour.
For a comparison, have a look at the other photo in the photo album. The inner guard repair is undetectable.
That round hole just inboard of the headlight looks like it will serve nicely for an EFI intake point of some sort.

You listening Michael? I said EFI, so hurry up with that CA18DET engine in your coupe.

Dodgeman,

You're making me drool on my keyboard! Mine goes in for some panel work in the next week and a bit!

By the way, I'll post some photos of my "re-conditioned" taillights tomorrow - as soon as I have reassembled them. I think you will be impressed!

Lookin good Dodge. That pic you emailed me of the inner guard repair/join looks like you learned to crack a mean whip on the car doctor. The pale grey is looking good.
Whats the black areas you speak of?
And when do we get a whole body pic?

Glad you like it & i look foward to seeing the tail light pictures. Was the lead that I gave you on the light that you neesed of any use to you?

Phunk
The Nice Car Doctor does not work at a high rate of speed like regular panel shops, he does a good job instead, so i just tell him what i want, leave him alone, & pay him some money every now & then.
Being into wholistic car medicine, he repairs, and paints as well. The spray booth is not big enough to let me get any meaningfull shots except from the front.
We will need to wait untill it gets wheeled back into the general ward after this specialised beautification operation before I get some whole-of-body photos.

The "Pale Gray" looks about as white as anyone would want, to me, but thats what it's called in the paint catalogue.

The under guard areas are to be sprayed with the sound deadener [which is black] & the area behind the grill will be done in black paint. The factory black in this area left a lot to be desired, but this time it is being done right, as is the whole body.

Dodgeman,

Unfortunately, the lead was in the same boat as me

Nevermind, though, I actually found someone here who repaired a good pair of mine and re-chromed them! I cleaned the lenses up and stuck them back together and they look almost new!

Ended up costing me $50 for a pair of excellent taillights!

I'll go take some happy snaps now...

If your sump, suspension and steering are all black and your head nice clean alloy - I think it will look a treat but you will require all bolts and brackets and carbie linkages to be cad plated to give it that extra special look.
I say go for it.

its looking really good. gotta admit I was picturing a different colour when you mentioned pale grey before - I guess one man's pale grey is another man's off-white!

what's this about EFI? I thought you were going for a standard look?
