cut out the slats and put a mesh in behind it

looks good i think, need to respray the front bumper again obviously

everything else has been on the car for a while

the packet said the mesh was red! but it's pink

so need to take it out and spray it red

edit: i've seen the top and bottom bits (above and below the badge) cut out, but this allows the whole horizontal centre beam to wobble up and down, and doenst look good when cars in motion

If you paint those grille support bits red at the same time that you do the mesh, you might get the result that you want.

Maybe you could find a way to cut those bits out and support the badge from behind the grill so it won't be visible. Looks good to me as is though.
