Hello again. I really need expert advise on this one.

recently on my country ocurred a volcano sand rain, it was all over the cars and my Ute was not the exception.

Sand entered all around the car and inside the top grill too. Now what happens is that water is stucked in it, cause i think drains are blocked. This causes water to go in the cockpit through cowl top ventilating system.

I have extracted most of the sand but, i want to know.. HOW CAN I CLEAR DRAINS so water can go out of it, and, WHERE EXACTLY ARE LOCATED THOSE WATER EXITS ON THE CAR.. all information will be very useful guys.

thanks a lot.
best regards..

ps. here are some pics..

I have a volcano about 1.5km from my house in PNG.

The volcanic ash is a very aggressive and corrosive substance especially when the acid levels are high. Locating the drains my be a little difficult but ti is important that all the ash/sand/dust be blown out thoroughly.

Volcanic ash is at it's most corrosive when it is fresh and wet, my Nissan patrol lost it's new coat in about 18 months flat during a pretty bad volcanic eruption. We are now looking at repainting it, when it is less than two years old.

You need to keep blowing out all the little pockets where the ash is with compressed air, then follow up with a fresh water rinse and then blow it out again. Follow up with compressed air and repeat until you think you've got all of it out.

I suppose you can vacuum it out as well but it depends how much there is.

Have a look at this thread http://datsun1200.com/modules/newbb/v ... id=311167#forumpost311167 there's photos of the affected areas. If you don't clean it up you will end up with rust holes just inside the bottom front quarter panels (near the door)that's where my one drains out at the moment

to get to the drain, have a look inside the front guards up towards where the guards bolt on, there should be a hole at the back of that top rail area. if its blocked you will probably have to backwash it through that hole first
