Hi jaimecidpedro, I have Koni adjustables on my race B110 coupe and they are the best rear shocks I've had so far. Loads of adjustment, rebuildable and excellent damping. I have put plenty of struts and shocks in a number of cars but the most striking, noticeable improvement I've ever had was fitting rear Konis on this coupe. Good move!

How did you get Koni shocks for a 1200? Are they matched up from another vehicle with similar length shocks? If you ask any shock absorber dealer for anything decent for a Datsun they say "they don't make them for old cars" without even opening up the book. You can see in their faces, they're thinking 'why does this idiot want to waste money on an old shitheap like that?!'

I got them through TWL in Invercargill but any Koni dealer will help. They were Mk II Escort rears. Cut off the top ring and weld the threaded end off the old set of Datsun shocks. They are 6 position adjustable oilers and will eat any gas option like Tokico or KYB etc. There is a performance shock over here for 1200's - made by Gabriel I think - if you're stuck let me know and I'll pick a pair up for you. I'm heading back to NZ in a couple of weeks so you could have an early Christmas present!

Don't use Gabriels on the REAR!!! Especially on a 4 door sedan. They fit ok, but they are so poorly constructed, that the shock piston rod bends and you end up with no suspension. On a Coupe or Ute they would be ok due to the 45 degree mounting angle, but my experience says don't bother. KYB are still available in Australia, and there are no distributors of Tokico in Australia anymore. I used to use Tokico Silvers on the rear..They are a fantastic budget shock. Pedders Australia still make comfort-gas shocks for front and back. Chris.

Yeah Chris is right - my fault. I was confused and thinking too Australian! Pedders sports gas shocks are what Andrew Denniss has used with good results - if NZdatman wants me to chase up a couple let me know.

Hey they sound alright, are they adjustable? I'd like to keep my car dual-purpose if possible (pooible?), are adjustables an advantage? I was keen on Konis as everyone says they are very good. I quite like the Konis being rebuildable as well. What are the racers using/recommending? Thanks for the offer of bringing some over for me, I appreciate it, but I'm not quite ready to buy the rears yet. I'm still trying to decide how to mount the shock at both the diff and car ends. I'm planning on having adjustment between standard ride height and about 2" lower. At the moment it has 2" lowering blocks but I want to do away with them and get the leaves reset and use adjustable spring hangers for height adjustment. At 2" lower than stock the shocks would have to be pretty bloody short to mount in the original locating points so I was wondering about mounting them to the cage cross bar or even making turrets. Anyway I hope to nut it out and make some progress on it in January, I'm heading to NSW for Feb-March so I might check out the Pedders while I'm there

A friend here used KYB VW Beetle front shocks? They seem to work very well, too. By: nzdatman Date: 11/27/01 6:51 pm How did you get Koni shocks for a 1200? Are they matched up from another vehicle with similar length shocks?

Hy NZDATMAN,I got these shocks (not for my ute 1200,but for my coupe B210) at nissan motorsports in California,US. Contact them for any of your needs. I am not at home now but in my catalog I have the phone number and E-mail address,if you need it,or in any event,I will post it tomorrow if not today. These are koni adjustables (rear). I do not know if I am right ,but if you are in New Zealand, your local nissan dealer should have a motorsports catalog or its New Z version available. Find out about it,it is for sure closer to home,if nothing(I doubt it) check nissan motorsports US. Have fun

If you don't mind me asking, what sort of money did you pay for them?
