Ok conversion time, just need a little nudge in the right direction. Where do you even start would be my first question? Is there anywhere in aus that can do the entire conversion for me? Brakes and all?
Sorry i forgot to say i want a CA18DET or a SR20DET in the old girl

any self respecting datto owner will do the conversion them self. but there is nothing wrong with getting a little help here and there. start by getting your new engine. then yank out your old one and stick the new one in with new or modified mounts, then electricals, feul lines, linkages and so on. good luck!

If you do consider doing it yourself.
Please read this forum and lots of other forums which have info on these types of conversions. Look at peoples buildup stories and pics. That way you will know what is involved and then you will have an idea of what to do.

when you go to buy your donk, buy a half cut, not just an engine.
with a half cut you get the gear box, loom and lots of other useful things for the conversion. i too considered this conversion (and almost went through with it) but i decided old skool was the go.

good luck with it all.
and remember, dont cut corners! you'll thank yourself for it when its all done.

I can only assume you are planning your conversion for a 1200, in which case you will have a hard time getting an sr20det engineered for rego. if a turbo is what your after go with the ca18det but dont underestimate the sr20de they have plenty of potential.
