Thats not a bad example dave, a bit better condition then your sunny
I have seen this getting around Launie before.
so what's it like to drive?
I see it's got a sunny front steelie on it, also the 3 rear bars that go behind the back window are missing.

What are you plans for this 1200.
So whats going to happen to the sunny wagon
Did you know that I have picked up a round headlight 1979 sunny sedan with a worked A15 and normal shift pattern Datsun 5 speed.
She really cruises along well.
I can't wait to see your new datto at our next meet.
seeyou soon.

Welcome to the wonders of the 1200..
This board reminds me of the Datsun Competition Club in San Diego. When I was
a member, I was the only one in the club that owned a Datsun :)

Yeah bit better paint to hey james! Good thing is that there is NO visual rust on the body and underneath. Theres been new panels welded into the floor of the cabin (the welds need cleaning up though) and the tray has only been spot welded around the frame. Im not sure why they didnt finish the job but its no hassel, ill just hit it with the MIG and it'll be all good.

Yeah the 13" steelies on the front are there just for the moment, im transfering my sunny front end into this thing. I tried TRX's on the std 1200 strut and it dont work, it rubs on the strut& inner guard at full lock. I reckon ill get the fronts of the guards rolled in a bit as boofhead has done on his sedan. Great job i mite add boof!

One question tho, in putting the sunny strut in; will this give me an increase in negative camber? Due to the sunny strut being longer and different will i need to use the sunny castor rods or will these not fit? Im gona have to do some trial and error soon...
Oh and if anyone has some nice 13" mags they want to part with atm id be keen as to come have a look! It needs lowering and a set on them, i really hate those delta turbos. Reckon they look like sh*te on the ute!

Cheers
Dave

Well my visit was short lived. Yup thats rite its off the road! Well for at least a week..
Came home today and heard a werid noise coming from the engine bay so decide to pop my head underneath and take a look.
There is oil ALL over the firewall and the underside of the bonnet. Great, just f*cking great

Whats happened im guessing is either my rear oil seal has popped out of the camshaft welch plug has decided to fall thru. EIther way its off the road and my A15 will be taking its place.
So yeah alls well that ends well i spose but it will live again!
There is also quite dark residue out the back of the car (from exhaust) so im guessing it must have been shooting black smoke the whole way home, i didnt notice at all!

There was a knock i did notice yesterday coming from down below in the engine with the rocker cover removed so a big end bearing must have also disloged itself or worn out. God damn A series!

Now please clarify, its a 1974 ute with a new A12 (dizzy in middle) so im going to have to make some mounts yeah?
Or will the sunny x member bolt up to the 1200?

Cheers
Dave

Could not warming up the engine attribute to this problem somewhat? Im thinking overrevving would have cause it really...

dizzy in middle....putting an A15 in..you don't need to do anything.

It's only the 1970-1973 1200 and 1000s that have a problem with the 120Y A12, A14 and A15.

Chris

No other 310 Sunny parts required...It might become more unreliable

hah yeah ive thought bought that factor! But seeing as i spent about $1200 on suspension on the sunny wagon i mite aswell use all the parts avalible as the wagon will be going back to reasonably stock then sold.

Now the sunny struts, i know many people have embarked on the stanza strut project but from what ive picked up on this site its just a direct bolt it yeah? Im gona take my complete strut assembly (tie rod ends aswell) and wack them in the 1200.
Do i need to use the sunny strut tops? It will be higher but nothing the angle grinder cant fix

Cheers guys
Dave

When I wrote that.. I first thought..who will I offend by writing this?... I was thinking I might offend you

My car is quite unreliable..I'm sure it's from the Sunny handbrake cover I used.
