Good to catch up with the boys today!
Benny, Dodgeman,'The Boss' and the apprentices all supporting the 1200 cause. I left before a full range of official results were available but all were having an "interesting" day. Benny started out tentatively but after a quick brake bleed, found enough pedal to get serious and looked on track for a personal best. "The Boss" was on the pace from the word go but had a rare mechanical gremlin - ask him about cheap flaring tools but he was quickly back out there stitching up his class win!(I assume?). The apprentices were going well with no dramas this outing and were enjoying chasing the endless supply of Minis in their class. I however, let the side down and had to retire after the first run Suffice to say, I am beginning to wonder if my mechanical skills were found in a cereal box Good news was that the car handled beautifully so that's one less drama. Will be back for another crack at Huntley hillclimb on the 28th so fingers crossed.
Despite the wind and my DNF still had a good day with the brothers Looking forward to the next outing!!
Cheers

I guess thats what racecar development is all about, lots of time and effort has to go into it. Good to hear there are encouraging signs to come out of the day - onwards and upwards (-: The build quality looks good on your coupe Jeff, lots of potential there.
I planned on coming up but was interupted by having to buy my son another car - timed to perfection - not!
Hope to catch up next time around.

Well, what a day. lots of fun as usual. good to see more dattos in these events.

Jeffs L-series conversion looks the goods, sounds the goods, but unfortunately suffered minor mechanical failure. It will be fixed in no time. the road holding on the yellow bee has improved 10 fold.

I had my own minor hickup when I had my first run and approached the first braking point to realise I had next to no pedal [not a good feeling at speed]. Near no brakes cost around 4sec a lap. Before the next run, a quick bleed of the brakes and i was back in business.

The weather turned ugly mid afternoon, high wind and rain made for interesting driving conditions on circuit. Suffered in the wet with the rear stepping out under hard braking [to much bias set in the rear] followed by understeer into the corner [quite controlable ] then oversteer coming out [feed that throttle] i need more practise in these conditions. i should really document the different setups for different conditions.
As alway more horse power would be great, maybe i will have the A15 finished and installed in the near future...

cant wait for the next event.

It was a great day, even if the weather turned to rain in the afternoon. I tried to see the good side. Goulburn desperately needs any rain it can get as the main storage dam is now officially dry.

I got a look at Rfast's L20B install & it is a work of art, hey, see for yourself.

This car looks absolutely beautifull basking in the morning sun. He might have been hogging the sunlight, but not the limelight.
Next time Jeff, .. next time.

Next we see Benny warming the tyres in the morning sun. Too bad it didnt stay sunny all day, & this has to be one of the better turned out cars you will get to see. It ran very well too.

Here we have The Boss' car with the boys new ride alongside.
The Boss' coupe won't win a prize for glamour, but it does win races,.. a lot.

As for the boys, well a new head gasket fixed the engine, & a new radiator, about three times the width of the [blocked] original radiator handled the cooling chores with ease.
The boys had a few minor 'offs' during the day & there was one spin in the wet, but for newchums, they went very well & i'm sure they learned a lot. They made us all proud.
Some new tyres would help a lot here.
Todays adventures will be the topic of much conversation all week at work for both of them. The little 1200 would have to be one of the best cars to learn motor racing in ever made. A great day for all of us.

I see Benny's coupe still looks like a beaten up old rust bucket - you should tidy it up a bit mate
There's always a good atmosphere in the pit bays when there are a few 1200's lined up. Looks like a good morning.

Thanks for the pics Dodgeman - always handy to have an 'official' photographer in the 1200 stronghold! As I said earlier, a good day for all and good to catch up with members again - even Dog160 was understanding when he turned up Sniffing for another steer I suspect
Cheers

yeah, nice to see pics of the cars there.

that L20 installation is very neat Jeff! Makes me miss my old bucket... Had another hillclimb at Mt Cotton yesterday - the GTR is way faster than the 1200, but not as much fun. The 1200's wheel lifting, tail sliding antics were much more entertaining!

enjoy it - I'm a bit jealous!

I had to be understanding, as it was I who predicted Dobba! As for another steer, it's probably in YOUR best interest so you'll know how fast it COULD go!!

Ahhh yes .... Dog 160 is well known for not letting fear (or common sense) get in the way of a fast time Maybe one day he can show us all how fast he is in a car OF HIS OWN
Cheers
