Well Ive been told this and that so many times I am honestly a little lost, a 240z also sounds like a candidate, heck I've heard of a bloke putting a 351c into a KE laser!

Like I said my criteria is more or less weight and effort to complete, registration is not something im going to worry about, not wanting to throw insane amounts of money at it.

There is a pic on here somewhere of a 1200 coupe convertable, with a blown 392 hemi in it. Now thats really nuts.
If you actually want to drive your car, (much less get it certified) I think you'll need some significant chassis reinforcement. I've seen pics of a VG valliant coupe with a 2000hp blown V8 hemi, that would twist the chassis so far that the wheel tubs would jamb the tyres enough to prevent forward movement. Aparently it had chassis work done too.
I know you don't have 2000hp, but a datto is a dam site flimsier than a valiant.
Plus with the firewall mods required even more of the bodies integrity will be lost.
I'm not saying don't do it. datto's are niice and light, but for a V8 I'd use something else. Plus with a clevo you'd need to take the heads off to get the spark plugs out. It's a tight enough sqeeze in a falcon.
What about using a lotus 7 replica?

Yeah tru about the spark plugs, Im one of those ppl that would put the engine in and if it showed signs of needing reinforcing then I'd go about making it so, dont tend to worry about things too much untill they are a problem I liked the idea of a datto also because of the price of a shell, a lotus 7 rep is going to cost a fair bit more to get started with.

You could go mid mount in a 1200 Ute with a canopy over the back. Leave the A12 in the front so you don't wheel stand the whole time though lol

I have seen a 351 windsor in a MINI, The dude was sitting where the back seat use to be, FREAKING CRAZY. You picked a pretty heavy donk but with all that weight over the front she will smoke the fattest tyres on earth. As for the spark plugs just cut inspecton holes in the strut towers and brace the S##T out of everythine. Good luck with conversion and up the mighty CLEVELAND.

a tray-back hilux???? pretty light and a bit bigger than a datto heaps of them out there too.
AC Cobra kit car???
60's - 80's corolla's???

Proton Jumbuck??? (the "new" datsun 1200) FWD but if ure goin to the trouble of a v8, converting to RWD with a tricked out rear end wouldnt be too hard and it wouldnt feel as bad to molest a proton as opposed to a datsun

suzuki capucccino (most suzuki's for that matter ares very light weight)

if u wanted to stick datsun, u got 200b's as well
Plenty of light weight vehicles out there

lol a mini now we're thinking! haha narr thats IS just crazy!

Yeah a 351 is a heavly little sucker, think 450kg at last count, but its what I got lying around.

5.8lt 351C with 2v 302cc heads with 4v inlets ported and polished to the wahzoo, double springs, yella rockers, dual plane manifold, 770 holley street avenger, hi-volume sump, and well the list goes on and on.

Selling my top loader + hurst indy shifter but have decided to keep my 9" LSD 4.11 diff am probably gonna shorten it and throw it under what ever shell I choose.
