I just found out that my brother is going to be stationed in Japan in about 7-8 months. My other brother is being stationed in Okinawa within the next month. They both
already know that they're going to have to find me 1200 parts that we can't get here in the US, I can't wait to see what he can find. Just thought I'd let you guys know.

Andy,
This weekend was my birthday party so I have been partying hearty and havn't been home too much to look at the distrbutor yet. (I did win our annual inner tube race yesterday) I will check
out the floor pan on the 1200 in the junk yard this week if I get a day off. I like the simplicity of the 1976-77 type distributor over the later ones. They hook up the same as the later
ones, a wire for each side of the coil and they don't have the unsightly box on the side of the dist. I'll check early in the morning on the dist. I know I have three or four but I am not
sure if the advance plate bearings are still in place on all of them. I do want to keep one as a spare but I should have a good one for you. If you can get a new one for a reasonably
price, you should get it. Later pal, Mareo Speedwagon

Hi Andy - I'd be surprised if there is much available in Japan. They have pretty strict laws regarding older vehicles and my understanding is that there aren't
many around.

Your best source for parts would be New Zealand and Australia as a lot of the little screamers are still on the road. The exchange rate would work in your favour
too!

I've heard the same thing from others about older Datsuns. I picked up a few Japanese car magazines in Seattle however, and there were car dealer ads in it. I saw quite a few old ones for
sale in them, even a few 1200's! The largest aftermarket company for Nissan, Tomei, is also over there, and they make a lot of 1200 racing parts. Barely any of their stuff ever makes it to
the US though. Another Japanese book I was thumbing through listed all of the old cars the Japanese used to race, and the aftermarket parts companies you can get cool stuff from too. Of
course the whole 60's-70's Nissan lineup was in it. Even though I couldn't read it, they had pictures I could understand: huge coil over front and rear shocks, GX heads, Weber/Mikuni
intakes, roll bars, sway bars, forged pistons, headers, camshafts...all for 1200's, available from one company in Japan (not Nismo). I sure wish I could've understood what it said. In Japan
they made different model B110's that I've never seen before, including 1400 model B110's, there was a webpage that had them all listed but I can't remember where it is. They had 1200 GX,
EL, SL, 1400 GX, EL, SL (or something like that). They had different looking grilles and front ends, but they were still B110's. Someday I'll find out all there is to know about our beloved
1200s. I guess I better brush up on Japanese first!

Okay, I found the model guide of all the B110 coupes offered in Japan. It's under the 1200 Club Pictures in the Main Section. I also added a link to a page that has lots of info on the
Sunny/1200/B110 in the links section. I wonder if the guy who made the webpage is part of this club? Turns out there were 6 different models in '72 anyway: 1200 GX, GL, and DL, and 1400
GX, GL, and DL. I think there were even more, like one called GX5. Anyway take a look at the link and find out for yourselves.

New Zealand seems to have more than it's fair share of Japanese performance cars. I am currently restoring a 1400 GX KB110. It came from Japan to NZ in the late 70's. It has a A14 with twin
40mm Mikunis and cast iron 2 piece extractors It has the GX head with larger valves and double valve springs ,all factory fitted. The bonnet has a beak at the front to make the exterior
different. It is badged as a Sunny. I have 2 plastic kits of this model. The interior has a 2 tone velour trim and the instrument surrounds are square instead of round. It has the larger H165
LSD diff and bigger rear drums. The front struts are shorter and tne discs and calipers are the same as the 180B. I've rebuilt it with a few extra goodies including a heap of genuine 70's
Nissan racing parts including a winged alloy sump and competition oil pump & cooler. This model was a homologation special to keep the mighty 1200s competitive in Japanese touring car racing.
I know of another similar car here in NZ. My car has factory fitted Minilite style wheels which were made in Japan called Watanabe's. I will be racing this coupe in Historic racing now it has
been accepted by the "experts." As has been said before there are still plenty of go fast parts available in Japan and there are still quite a few 1200s. I have recently sent 2 bonnets to
Japan for some 1200 restorers.I also got a very hard to find rear sway bar for my GX, from Japan. It is mounted to the diff and has bolts though the chassis rails. I have never seen any mention
of these in any book or manual and I have a pile but a fellow 1200 nut in Japan swore it was genuine. If any one is looking for parts let me know as I can usually find them for you. I'm not in
a business or anything, just a hard core Datsun man.

Sounds like an awesome car, the coolest part is that almost all that stuff came stock on it. My 1200 came with a rear sway bar bolted on the back. It attaches to the rear end with big
exhaust clamps through polyurethane bushings, then connects to the frame rails through adjustable end links. The front sway bar is not stock either, it is huge compared to stock.
There are stickers on both the front and rear sway bars, but they are unreadable (faded). I think these are the Addco ones sold by Nissan Motorsports (NISMO), yours might be too.

Hi Andy-
Teretonga is right. It's really hard to find old Datsun parts here in Japan (I'm having a heck of a time finding spares for my B210 and 1200 truck). After market parts on the
other hand is still available from various local specialist. Let me know what you are looking for-- I may be able to zip you a photo catalogue.

Hey, I'm looking for any kind of aftermarket parts for the 1200, and more importantly, how much they are. Right now, I'm looking for valvetrain and suspension parts, but I'd still like to
know everything that's available. I may be getting some Nissan Motorsports dual valve springs, stainless steel exhaust valves, and performance head gasket (good for the turbo setup).
Unfortunately, the guy that I'm dealing with for these parts is not a 1200 enthusiast.... he seems like a jerk trying to get as much money as he can, but I think it's because he's a Z
guy. A catalog would be awesome!

You should be able to pick up a NIssan Motorsports catalog at your local Nissan dealer. Also, Classic Datsun (www.classicdatsun.com) has *some* 1200
stuff available, as well.
