Hi all, was there ever a round gauge km/h speedometer available for any 1200 model? or another datsun even? Or perhaps a nice looking aftermarket speedo face to slip in. Trying to keep it look as stock as possible but MPH is a pain when all the signs are km/h! Thanks for any info.

Yep sure are, my coupe dash has a sticker that has km/h on it. I dont know if you can still buy them but somewhere on here is one you can print out on sticker paper and cut out. Have a search.

of the coupe speedos that ive pulled out they have had kmh marked on them but its not visable when instaled in the dash
so i have simply used a tooth pick and a paint pen to extend the lines down

Late model ute dash has kph, but dont know if you can get one over there. Might be able to get someone to post you one from over here.

all you need to do is find someone with one, get them to take the face plate off the speedo(the bit with the speedo markings on it) then send that over to you
but then all mph dashes have kph markings on the outer edge of the face, just have a look at your dash and you should see the marking around the outside edge

I use a VDO speedo in my ute that has a black face and white numbering. It was an easy install into the stock dash too. I took the old one out and this almost fits in exactly as a replacement.

so i have simply used a tooth pick and a paint pen to extend the lines down as far as I remember the KM markings on the edge of the coupe speedo's didnt really line up to their equivilent MPH figure... like 60mph =100kmph (does it?) but the 100k mark was some distance away from the 60mile mark. You may still be able to buy the sticker, I've seen them at swapmeets before

the marking are kinda like a guestimate for where it should be, 60mph = 96 kph but even on yhe dash in my sedan, origianl kph dash, it has the mph below it and they dont really line up too well according to my convertion thing, 100kph =62.1 mph and on the dash its at about 64 mph, see pic below

A10, all the south african ones come out with KM/h gauges and a rev counter next to it. If you have a contact travelling thru SA, I can organize as many as you want, this place is rotten with Dato Ute parts - diffs, 5 spd boxes, interiors etc, all original off of new 1400 bakkies which are still been produced. I run 2 of them for my business and another for drags/fun. Oh, and Nissan SA is a direct subsidiary of Nissan Japan, so the utes are all genuine Nissans, not some Mahindra/Kia copy type thing. cheers
