hey bud...im only 47, but i have a 9 year history with the car you say you have fallen madly in love with.....so I consider myself an expert on Datsun 1200's. In fact, I'm gonna be on the lookout for any and all that i can find. That should keep me real busy, cause there aren't any....and i still think you are one Koala bear short of a full diaper.

OK Steve,
It seems that you have gone out of your way to offend ALL of those who frequent this list, even the old farts like me.
I too remember when they were new, and had one then too. my first one died after 400,000 miles when some jerk in a trans am blasted the front end.
I have had 4 others since then and am currently looking for another one.
You gave a few reasons why it is you didn't like them, and you are entitled to your opinion, HOWEVER the best way to create a lynch mob mentality is to question the intelligence of some one who visits the site.
for the record, when they were new, they were nasty little #### boxes, that rusted apart as you drove them. They need a lot of help in the looks department and the quality of the materials the interior was made out of wasn't the best.
SO WHAT, WHO CARES?????????
what they are is a fun car to drive, better built than anything that ever came from the British Isles, and a hell of a lot less to boot.
they don't have a hydralic system that goes junk when you add the wrong brake fluid (any brake fluid works in them), they run on regular gas, the trans don't give out when you miss a shift, they don't have lucas electrics, and you can still buy parts for them at the dealer. that's something that no triumph owner can say, remember they let town about 20 years ago and ain't been back since.
get down off your high horse and quit trying to pick a fight with the rest of the world, if you don't like them that's your business.
personally I feel that you owe everyone one this site an appoligy, if for no other reason than you unsinuation that because you own one of those british piles your smarter.
I happen to disagree completely with you.

WORDS OF WISDOM RIGHT THERE!

dattos arnet all that standard i agree but most people on this site like me have customized there datsuns to there taste, which makes them special to us!

baggin the datsuns offends us because they are our cars and they are the best in our eyes so take it or leave it and jump in your poxy tr6 and go back to where ya came from

sure they were econoboxes when they came out, but they were good econoboxes. Over here we have an annual production (well it was back then) endurance race at Mt Panorama - Bathurst. up until 72 it was a 500mile race, then became 1000km from 73 onwards. Just to show how crappy and unreliable they are, this 1.2 litre econobox production car finished 15th outright against all sorts of hugely powerful V8's and sixes that year. It also won it's class in 70, 72, 73, and 76! Not bad for a ####box hey

Now let me see if I can find a triumph in there... what a misnomer!

ps, the mighty 1000 won its class in the 67 race

Jeezus Micheal you are one angry little fella. I find it hard to believe that a mention of "happy pills" is an insult compared to the crap you write in your posts. For the record I am a car lover, I don't discriminate against anyone who is into the car culture. Cars are my life and my living. 1200s have been in my life since I was 15, 22 years ago. "Steve" is a wind up artist, he pulled your chain and you reacted aggresively,I hope you don't take your attitude out on the street with you, as you will end up with more than a few smacks in the head. If you reread Steve's post he said nothing bad about Dattos that we haven't said ourselves at times. We all strive for higher performance, better handling and braking, very few of us own stock 1200s. They lend themselves to modifications and thats why we are all here. I do remember a short while back you were trying to sell your 1200, I am glad you haven't but remember no one here dissed for trying to sell it. Everyone is entitled to an opinion and you should respect that. Giving people #### and insulting them in the ways you have been doing is childish and does'nt belong in this club.....Oh and by the way what has the age of anyone got to do with their love of cars??? You know I just reread this post and I sound like my parents, oh God I'm getting old !!!!1
