Not sure about sedans but the ute was registered about two months ago complete with SR20DET in the ACT. I am certain the same engineer also does NSW work. Let me know if you would like some more info.

To get past the speedo issues the owner just went for an aftermarket Autometer speedo and it works pretty well.

Hi,

I've just started reading about your conversion.
Firstly i want to congratulate you on an awesome job. Sounds like you put a bit of work into it. I've read that you have to modify the drive tunnel to fit the box in. Is this true? I just bought a 1200 coupe and want to drop an Sr20 in it, but if it's going to cost too much, or serious modifications are required i'll just drop a c18 in it. thanks

Sorry guys, I've been out of the Datsun 1200 stuff for a couple years. After doing the conversion and coming back in the US for the last 3.5 years (Texas), I've had sooo many things happen in my life. Lots of distractions; war, marriage, kids, about 5 others (1969 Buick, 1992 240SX, 1993 240SX, 1990 Cressida, 1996 Lexus GS300). The Datsun has been running fine since, I drive it every other month on the weekends. Still haven't lost a race, there's a video on the net of me blowing away a modded C5 Z06 Corvette on the highway and a few on google video. It's still got some things to work out on the swap that I just never messed with. The car does get 35 mpg on the freeway and has run 8.0 @ 93mph in the 1/8th mile. I've since raised the rear end up some, bolted on some 245/45-16's out back and some cheap traction bars to help with traction. I have bought some fiberglass bolt on flares from B-Projects in Japan, but I am horribly dissatisfied with the quality. Sturdy, but sloppy and wavy. I don't recommend them, but I will make them work, they're not on yet. Other than that, I have weighed the car, with 3/4 tank of gas and full interior it weighed 2000 lbs! Heavier than I thought, but with this much power it doesn't matter so much. Anyways, just thought I'd poke my head back in and let y'all know the Datsun is doing fine and things are good, I haven't lost love for the Datsuns! Oh and I'm supposed to move to Arkansas next year, but I don't want to...

Andy,
Still wanna race? Nice to hear your still around. It has been a few years since you stopped by. Texas seems along way from Washington.
Alot of upgrades to the sedan since you rode it in. Same engine but just a few modification.
Had the Monroe Speedway to myself last week and enjoyed a few runs down the 1/8th. Wish there would have been someone there to video but we have drags this Friday. Hope to get some footage then.
Had the carbs off yesterday for a new gasket set. I removed the chokes. They aren't needed anymore.
I'll be at SIR this year as well as PIR in Portland.
Hope to hear more of your adventures.
Later
