I'd like to know if this steering wheel is rare or valuble? In other words, would I regret cutting it up to use as an adapter for a different wheel? Aside from being dirty, it's in excellent shape... http://datsun1200.com/modules/myalbum/photo.php?lid=13131

I've got to say that I've never seen one of those wheels before. Also you should have a space between the image thing when you try posting them so it doesn't count the sentance as html or some crap.

Well, since nobody, including me, seems to have seen one before, then I guess it probably is rare.

Does the wheel bolt to a boss, or adapter, in the conventional way of aftermarket wheels? I'm guessing its aftermarket as I can't bring to mind any Datsun that used anything like it.

Should we be concerned that you are doing 80 in the dark with no headlights and no revs (ie the engine off)?

I have seen similar style wheels on a cameria and corona. But never on a datsun. Not a bad looking wheel. Its kinda the industrial look. like Homer Simpsons chain wheel in the orange 2 door he had when he met Marge.

One of the 210's I parted had that exact wheel. For Rally driving I like the 2 spoke wheels, it should bolt right on.

I dunno how it got to you, but it came out in the datsun 140Y in south africa. was originally ment for the rally scene, but instead was put into, lets call it ''the special edition'' 140Y. so dont cut it up, its has no $ value, but status for those models

the easiest way to go now is to get hold of a loose 1400 steering boss, and fit it. if you cant get that, then try a ISUZU 250kb pickup's boss (like the 98-99 model) the splines are the same, if you have such pickup that is. youll need to reem the inside a bit, and in front 4-6mm has to be removed then fit and adjust to desire. an hours work max(when your lazy)

It's definitely a factory Datsun wheel. It has a built in boss with a comutator on the back for the horn, and an itegrated Datsun logo horn push. If it had a thicker, smaller rim I'd consider using it as it's kinda cool... Guess I won't cut it up.
