allwayssallin - in terms of engine conversion, trust me you know more already about how to do it than any random workshop does.

if your serious about doing the conversion your going to have to talk to kev rowley about a conversion kit. let me know if you need contact details. and alot of us ahve done the conversion so ask us too.

2QK4U being in QLD you will have to check this with your local engineer contacts, But in NSW 1200 utes only can be registered for commerical use (under a buisness name) Commerical cars are almost always under load, working etc. this has different regulations for engine upgrades.
So along comes mr FJ20T required to carry all that heavy stuff for work.
The bonus with this is you claim fuel, tyres, engine service all on TAX
Then once engineered it can be re sold time and time again under private use as long as it doesnt run out of rego.

My understanding is in Vic you can get away with even more crazy engine mods than NSW.
Any Vic boys want to clarify if this is true?

yes vicroads are dumb, end of story

you could pretty much go and get them to just change the engine number on your rego to ca18XXXXXXX

and suddenly the engine is supposed to be there
