Hey guys I have a B310 Sunny in Aus and we are using it for khanacross which is a rally/time trial event on dirt. We just bought a fresh A12 to replace the A12A it cam with. The engine mounts do not line up...the A12A originally in the car had engine mounts in a similar position as the A15. The fresh A12 that we are putting in has the engine mounts set further forward to the front of the engine. Is there and adapter kit that can help with this or do I just make brackets to suit???

The A12 you have is one of the early ones. the quickest & easiest way to mount it is to try and get the original engine mounts that bolt to the block the it all should bolt up.
You will also notice the engine engine has the distrbutor further forward that the last one i.e. the A12 with have it under the #1 plus, where as the A12A will have in under #3.

What are you doing with the A12A block?, I'm trying to find one so I can re-build my engine.

Hi Brent thanks for your quick reply...yeah we tried using the original mounts off the older style A12 using the original strong sunny box, but we were 50mm out...the mounts on the engine being 50mm forward of the cross member. The mounts on the engine were also too high, lowering the engine made the sump hit the x-member. We have made up some right angle plates to compensate for this but appears like a weak point if we go racing.
Also you can have the A12A block for free...the engine would only run on 3 cylinders and was blowing alot of smoke when we picked up the car. Just let me know how we can get it to you. Also Teretonga was investigating getting some of his race parts he has in storage in Invarcargill. Would you have some info of importing them here to AUS??? PM me for my phone no if needed.

Love to give it to you but Brent wants the whole lot too...so first stab goes to him. I mentioned the block to him in a PM as I thought it would cost heaps to ship to NZ, but if he pays for that then I'm happy to send it to him. Otherwise you can have the head.

This is probably not the A12A engine. The A12A has different size pistons and CC and was used in the USA B310 (210).

Cars from 1974 are using the "new" A12 with the mounts and distributor moved. See discussions:
A12-SA Engine (from a sunny) (has information on motor mounts)
A12-A15

Thanks DD but reading that thread doesnt help me much...as I am trying to put the older style motor in a later typ car. Obviously not often done...this was only considered due to the enginebeing made available for a great price.
I will make up some brackets...and in the future stick with the 1200 as a platform.

Nah - the motor is too high and too far forward for a plate to work.
