Hi,
After putting an A15 in my road 1000 coupe, I need to find a new spot to put my battery. The old spot is right were the alternator now goes. I was hoping to buy oen of those plastic battery boxes and mount it in the boot of my coupe. Being a coupe, the boot is not separated from the cabin. Does anybody know what the road rules state is legal ??

yes its legal, however needs to be very securely strapped down and also in a plastic box to prevent acid spills....all in the event of a rollover.
You could alternatively use an odyssey dry cell battery for starting. They are small enough and grunty enough to start a hi-comp a series..even my SR20 and can be mounted behind the dash. As they are dry cell they will not spill and they can be positioned in any way you desire. They arent cheap at around $200 from Rocket for a 600AHr unit. Thats my recommendation. I have done that in my 1200 racer.

Moved my battery to the rear in the 1200 coupe.

It is legal - $15.00 battery box which is strapped in and it has to be a fully sealed odyssey battery or simular. I used a optima as it is cheaper.

You probally should check with engineer in NSW.

I had to use a fully sealed battery. If I used a sealed sodium battery or simular these have a vent on the battery and can still produce fumes. Hense the vent on the battery. One of these can be used but the battery box needs to be air tight and vented to the outside as mentioned in the last post.

Play it safe and check first.

my mate has a sealed battery behind the passenger seat in his rx7, no box or anything. All legal.
