Okay, just a quick one, most people use stanza struts. Why not use 1.4Ltr sunny struts as the brakes on these are the same as 180b brakes? Also a sunny is a newer 1200??????

sunny struts arnt as good, they are smaller and have smaller brakes, pretty sure they arnt the same as 180b

it went 1000, 1200, 120y then sunny, so yeah they are all one happy family

the dba catalogue says that the sunny 1.4 and 1.5 ltr have the same disks as a 180b.
245mm. The DBA catalogue, lists two disks for stanzas (1) same as 180b, (2) 252mm ones. So the Stanza does have the same disks as a 1.4ltr sunny but wouldn't the sunny be easier to fit???
Has anyone tried nomad or vanette disks up front??

Thanks rallycar,
I'm not arguing: - youve done it, i want to do it.
On yur page u say to use 120y castor rods.
What I'm gettin at is, yur method require parts from 2 cars, using sunny brakes may only require the one car, thats all. I also want to be able to use 13 inch rims.

Hey Datsik, with teh stanza strut conversion you don't need to use 120y castor rods if ya don't want to. you can use standard 1200 castor rods with spacers/washers fitted, so it pushes your wheels back to where they should be.
Cheers
Damo

you do know that if your castor rods pull your wheel further forward it gives better high speed stability

datsik, the reason people use stanza struts is mostly availability,in my opinion(not humble, you notice((joking, please don't take offense))).a14 sunnys are rare,as they were only optional in wagons in the later years.however, japanese stanzas have the same brakes as a14 sunny's & they're a bit easier to find.another reason could be strut tube length,as the sunny struts are the longest by far.but it's mainly what you can get your hands on easily & cheaply.also,120y's have to be useful for something, other than sticking l20's in & being the ultimate sleeper.

stanza brakes fit inside 13"

while your getting the castor rods from a 120y you can grab the swaybar too ya see, 120ys are good for two things

when ya get the struts ya just bolt the 120y castors too them and they just think they are off the stanza, so no extra cost, slippery but hey ya get that

Datsik you are dead right the big block late RWD Sunnys having the same brakes as the 180Bs etc. I have a pair on my GX. I am a fan of them for conversions cause they retain the correct king pin angle. The Stanza conversion screws things up a little. If you want an easy stealthy set up, cut down the Sunny tubes and slide the smaller diameter 1200 strut and spring seat inside the Sunny strut, it's a sliding fit and weld around the spring seat to give it a factory appearance. You can lower your car and Mr Plod cant see how !! The down side is you are stuck with the small internal dimensioned 1200 strut for shock inserts but Corolla and VW Golf ones work well.
