yea i took the new xr8 ute for a burn last week and thought the trim was weard the auto shifter was on a funny angle , the trim felt cheap , the ve feels more powerfull and i cant get over the shap on the utes tray looks like its off a nother model and any one see the wheel offset on the rear of a xr8 ute ? its like a 100 mm in the gaurd wtf its a xr8 its ment to sit mean and clean

and i was a die hard ford fan , for a few years now i have been a fayding ford fan

but on the other side of the fence when the ve first came out a friend got one of the first ones and in the first few months had to go back for a new clutch was shacking , fuel line , aircon line split and leacked under the carpet and had to replace carpet + aircon line and had a nother thing but i forget so my tip dont be the first to buy a new model

Forget the V8's - both Ford and Holden V8's suck these days, by artificially raising the kW figures at the expense of torque at a useable RPM, they are almost undrivable.

Go the turbo! You get hp and accleration, rather than one but not the other.

totally agree, good old V8's pulled from 500rpm, not 3500, Havent tried a ford 5.4, I thought they sound better at least, but LS1 and LS2 way too tame and lame for the cubes. All aluminium and still heavier than the 5.0 too.

And the LS7 in the bathurst 500 was coming 10th or 11th outright far behind 2.0L mitsi evos 1st and 2nd and with 7.0 understressed litres of cc blew up...

LS1 sucked so anything after that will too, its nice a v8 can rev but defeats the purpose of being built for low down torque.

I like the old winsor v8's, heaps of useable torque down low and midrange, wouldnt rev over 5000rpm barely but you wouldnt need to,

Old holden v8 was similar but i always liked the note of the windsor... then it was Ls1 time..... no good.

A truck motor in a car is not the only way to make it fast... ford did the right thing with the inline 6 turbo but 2010 it will be dead. ny new v6 turbo rumoured to exist just wont match torque and power like this current set up does, will have to trade one for the other as will meet euro 4+ emmissions too.

Ford wont swap a lemon for another car, they just keep trying to make a better lemon.
At least its a lease car... can give it back after 12 months.

i sold my VS 5L 5 speed ute to buy my datsun and ill never go back to holden.... it was a money pit.... id fix something then save a lil money for rims or exhaust then something else would fruck out over and over.... i think i would buy a BA over a holden these days.... in my opinion subaru is the car of the future and if im ever in the position to buy something newish it would be a forester

i had a hire car over the weekend when was in Melbourne, and i was given a fairly new Fairlane, full options, leather interior, 6spd sequential shift auto...i know auto but i cant drive manual too good... and my god thsi thing u barely touch the acc. and it took off like a bat out of hell!!! i was in heaven lol if i could afford one i would get one.

we are thinking of buying a new car as i think i have blown the gear box in my car ...i blew the auto box in the falcon b4 i gave the car to luke!!! and now i think i have blown another auto box.....the gearboxes dont seem to like the way i drive i think!!!...but if we get a new car i want either a wagon or a 4wd, or a dual cab ute....only coz of how big our pups are gonna get.


edit: when the 1200 wags is finished the dogs WONT be going in it...hence y another wagon or something.

yeah lots of members other cars or family cars are subarus, gt foresters especially.

Good solid car but then again f engine problems occurr the bills rack up.

But some going strong after 400,000kms on stock engines
