They're the most recent ones I've put up. I haven't been up there in the last month to see how it's going. I'm so keen to get it back! Your's is shaping up to be quite the animal, hope I get to see it in person one day!

Remember that it's the attributes that made the 1200 so popular are what's been killing it for decades.

People with no money, big ideas & no driving ability have been buying them cheaply, starting projects that they couldn't finish, or driving them & smashing them.
How many paddock bashers do we have in this forum.

It's the rising price that will save them.
Once they are priced out of the poverty stricken end of the market, people will actually spend money to get the rust repairs done properly, will do modifications that are practical & well engineered, & will take care of them in ways that many cars haven't experienced since they were new.

Once the car is seen as an investment & not as a cheap & disposable toy, manufacturers will see the value in producing quality pepro parts, like that have with other Datsun classics & better quality builds will be seen because the finished product will be less of a black hole into which we just throw money.

I'm not gazing into some crystal ball here & predicting the future, I'm looking in the rear view mirror & simply describing what has happened to so many cars in the recent past. I can clearly remember going with a friend to Simms metal & watching him buy a 1943 Ford coupe for less than $50 & then turn it into a speedway car that lasted 1 season before being returned to the scrap pile. It wouldn't happen today.

So, ... while I lament the rising cost & the pain to my wallet in the small picture, & in the short term, I feel vindicated in my selection of vehicles in the long term as it's intrinsic worth is now slowly being seen as a market value too.

Perhaps my signature has a deeper meaning than I originally intended.

Nah don't have the wagon anymore. Many people have said it and now i know what they mean and can say it with a full understanding 'I SHOULD NEVER HAVE SOLD THAT THING!!!!'

But i guess you do what you thought was right at the time. I was planning and paying for a wedding on my own back and something had to give.

And dodgeman while what you say is more than likely going to prove 100% correct i don't agree with it being a good thing at all. The whole attraction for these cars for me has been that they have been for so long relatively an unknown jewel, keeping the prices down and allowing us regular joe young enthusiasts to enjoy them for so long. Now it looks as though it's the beggining of the end of all that and the party is starting to draw to a close...... : (

Very depressing i think.

Hey Trav!! What ever you do dont buy a GT starlet !!! (Pm Sent)

I think its good datto's are going up in value. Yea the young blokes have had them for years but because there not made anymore and less on the streets evey year. They will become more valuable as time goes on (Like everything) Datto's are in a field of there own being so universal they are a great rally/ peformance/or cruisers. Something for everyone. I like the idea of having a car that will be worth more money when i sell it.

I think it depends on your situation.

Personally if i only had one car for work/play/parking at shops everyday use etc, i would not buy a datto. But because i have a new company car fully maintained and paid for i can have my Turbo ute for the weekends or a cruise and not have to leave it at the shops for people to open there doors on it.
