hey guys i just got my keys to my first car and it is a datto :) hence why im here
its a ute dunno what model it is if you could tell me that would be rad
i just a couple of questions
it has an a12 engine which is veryyyyy slow haha
um the only mod it has is the extractors
and the carb was rebuilt the other day so nothing much
its still a 4 speed too
um but to the questions,
i have about 2k to spend on it
i need a head unit so there goes about 200
that leaves about 1800 to spend on the engine
i was wondering what would be the best "bang for buck" engine mods
cheers guys
oh and im getting some lowering blocks too

How mechanicly skilled are u ??
U could go for an 15 engine swap with extractors and a weber, twin or quad carbs or even go injected (not sure on how much that's costs havnt done it myself)
Or other options spend money on your engine turbo and or supewrcharge . . .

and where would be the best place to pick a running one up from
also
do they have more power from stock than an a12?
cheers for your help so far
and yeah i would be able to do the engine swap.

um
also
the jts heads, thats a long way from the gold coast lol

Best place to finde a runing a15 is on here. put a WTB (want to buy) in the clasifides. a standard a15 is straight up about a 20hp gain witch is quite a'lot when ya pushing sutch a lite car. a runing one with all the standard bits should be about $500 and will bolt straight in, then put a weber 32/36 carb(200-300 in good nick maybe with an adaptor plate) a mild cam(200ish to get your one ground), you allready hav extractors that will fit and you should hav ya self a bag of laghs

let me know if you are selling the a12 and if its a 71-73 early model as it suits my 1000.
I sold my last oval port a14 completely rebuilt, with HD daikin exedy clutch, new starter, carb and the rest for 650 including 60a 4 speed. Now I regret it

Here's a different idea: don't change the engine. You'll get fine fuel economy and ultra-reliable motoring from the A12. That's what I have. Went from 5-liter Ford to this A12. Loving every minute of it.
