What am i going to be up for to get my ute engineered? It is out of rego, has 200b struts and brakes, and has
an A15.
Ive heard engineers are about $400 - is this the case? They are the only mods - and they are pretty common mods
too...
Also, with the blue slip inspection, do they go over everything with a fine tooth comb?
Do i need all the polluton gear hooked up?
which needs doin first? engineer or bloo slip?
Im scared...

sheesh.. In California they just wanted to see
the VIN to verify that the car exists. now my
coupe is on the road.. no smog required for 1973
and older and no mechanical inspection either.
I do wish I could find a ute in the US
Mine can be seen at http://www.geocities.com/wubbits

Hey all, thanks for the advice on bypassing my coil resistor. My car runs AWESOME now! No more misfiring at high rpms, it runs smooth all the way to 7500 rpm! I now am having some other
problems though since I've done this. When I start the car up the instrument panel (tach, gas, temp guages, turn signals, warning lights) doesn't work and the alternator doesn't start
charging until the engine is revved above 5,000 rpm then it all starts working all of the sudden. Any ideas? It also burnt a few fuses at first, but hasn't for a few days now. Advice
would be greatly appreciated, talk to ya'll later. I'm really enjoying how awesome my car runs now!

Hey Andy, do you have a wiring diagram for your 1200? I can email you the diagram if you want me to. What year is your wiring. There are subtle differences in the years. I had to put
a 1971 wiring harness in my 1972 sedan and now I have a 72 harness in my 73 coupe. If anyone wants me to email the wiring diagram in a .jpg file, send me your model year and email
address to:

Shouldn't be a problem.
These are the things I;d do.
1. Hide all rust.
2. Hide all oil leaks.
3. Hide all tire rubber from the inside of your guards.
4. Go to Loening Brothers (Engineers) in Peakhurst (~$300). trailer car to there.
5. Go to Blue slip guy. This is a heavy pink slip. Some are tougher than others.
6. Go to the Registry and part with some more money. Make sure they note engineer certification on
rego and rego label.
7. Do a burnout, when leaving the registry.
8. Feel the datsun difference.

I wrote that post before i had made phone calls - i had friends that said it would cost $400 + to get it engineered - but after 2 calls, i had quotes for $200 and $110. sweet, and i can
drive the car there, if i have a letter of intent, and a booking. here i was thinking that the engineer would be the evpensive bit - i think my probs are going to be with the blue slip,
if anything...

Also, why did u suggest Loening Brothers ? Im in newcastle, so they are a bit far...thanks anyhoo.

Loening Brothers have engineered all of my family's upgraded cars.
We've never been knocked back. So long as the mods have some thought for
reliability behind them.

I got my old 1600 with 200b struts,L20b engine and C210 skyline 5 speed engineered with loening brothers a few years ago, they were pretty good to deal with, cost about $250
i think. They knocked me back for a few minor things, but that car was a real beater! I'm going to get my 1000 coupe done by them when the time comes.

James.
