looks like it will be fun! is that a standard manifold, with a sort of box or square section welded onto the top of it for the hairdryer to fit onto? U have probably said it before, but how many psi are u planning on using? Linc ps did u get the email i sent u today?

yep he got a standard exhaust manifold, and cut a hole in the flat section above cylinders 2&3, then welded a flat plate onto it, then welded the turbo flange onto that. I'd bet davo could do it with his eyes closed :) I don't know how much boost i'll be able to safely run, probably 5-7 psi. anymore it'll ping, so for more boost I'd have to drop the compression andor setup a water spray into the carby. You'll note that there is a hobbs switch on the inlet manifold, this could be used to trigger the water spray. Sorry I havent contacted you about the weber, I've been all over the place moving house.. James.

Hey now that looks like some fun!!! The exhaust looks easy to do. Alltho it looks kinda in-efficient for number 4 cylinder. It looks like he just welded a piece of tube together to block it off. The inlet looks good and the turbo itself looks to be in good condition aswell. I wouldnt mind knocking up a exhaust manifold to suit just to see how it goes. Im going to be making up some extractors for Eddie soon anyway, so i thought maybe i could give it a go. I would have to borrow the manifold u have so i get the turbo flange plate in the right spot. Other than that it looks fairly simple. If u want me to try it, i have no probs doing so. Scott Davo

Hey guys I had a look at the pictures and couldn't work out why the turbo was mounted like that. I have had another look and agree with you Scott it does look pretty inefficient. I take it that the original outlet is blocked off so that the exhaust gas has to go down and back up. It looks like that would cause a lot of unnecessary lag and heat build up. I thought about doing a turbo set up but welding the mounting flange onto the bottom of the original outlet maybe even with a little kink out for clearance etc. This would give good flow (at least as good as original)and would also keep the dump pipe away from the inlet more and still allow a fairly short and direct path to the inlet if required. Sorry James don't mean to put a damper on you it probably works fine just looks a little wierd. Still can't help but think the inefficiency would be robbing you of easy power. I'd be trying to get the hot turbo as far away from the inlet manifold as practical especially when pinging is going to be an issue with high (for turbo) compression. In that respect the inlet manifold is great being upswept like that. As a minimum can you get a heat shield between the turbo and manifold.

Yeah, the exhuast pulses have to travel further from the 4th cylinder, and they have an indirect path to get there. This certainly isn't as efficient as it could be. I could give you a look at the manifold, I'm not going to be using it for a while yet, maybe I can bring it to the datnet cruise. james.

Hey James bring it to the cruise Ill be there in the datto ill bring some pics of how to make turbo manifold if ya want. Wasnt that hard to do looking at the pics I feel you have a lot more potential :) Cheers Andrew Ps: will be good to put some faces to all the people i have met here on the net supposed to be quite a few dattos going :)

I just took a look at your turbo set up. Do you have to cut a hole in the hood? In a 1200 and using that thing, a hole in the hood would be required. I have never seen a 1000 as they never sold them in America that I know of. What years did they make the 1000's? Mareo

I have some rear brake questions and I hope I can get an answer on here. I just ordered a lot of the brake parts for my new 1200. The only rear brake cylinders that they sold are 13/16 bore for cars that had drum brakes on the front. They did not have any rear cylinders (11/16 bore) for a 1200 with front disc brakes. Is there any difference in the rear cylinders other than the size of the internal bore; will the larger bore cylinders fit my car? I did order kits for the 11/16 bore cylinders but in the past, I have found that the rear cylinders are very hard to hone correctly to be rebuilt. They also did not have front calipers, I had to order kits also for the front. DID THEY EVER SELL 1200'S WITH FRONT DRUMS IN AMERICA? I have never seen them if they did. Front calipers are pretty easy to rebuild and kits are only $4.50 each. They did not list any front brake pads either but I do know where I can get them. This isn't Datsun related but it was funny. Last night, I went on a date with a beautiful lady and we had a great time. There was a drunken woman giving everybody a hassle and my date said to me, "you can take a whore to culture but you can't make her think." I cracked up laughing. 1200's RULE Mareo

It doesn't sit up as high as it looks in those pictures, it comes up about 2 - 2.5 inches above the valve cover. the U-pipe goes close to the bonnet though. B10's were sold in Australia from 1968 to 1970 i think.. (i've owned a 68'wagon (VB10) and this 69 coupe(KB10). They also came in 2 door sedan and 4 door sedan versions. theres not many of them left over here, far less than 1200's. James.
