datsik I dont think you know how much a 4age formula atlantic motor costs?
Supercharged is another story, even so the 4agze is heavy and never outperforms anything boosted even a 4age boosted.
The argument was a FA 4age vs an A15 turbo in my post, the FA 4age does not make anything under 5000rpm so a boosted properly setup a15t will eat it. As for gearbox several choices are available from Toyota and as a few have done a ford T5 using cut and shut bellhousing. In the end a a third of the cost of a FA 4age setup.
Alot of toyota corolla people go straight to the ca18det instead of bothering with a turbo 4age.
You have to mix and match internals to have a strong 4age in NA form and then alot of work to make them perform beyond smaller boosted engines. The only one built right from factory yet rare, bulky, heavy and rods are too heavy for NA.
Check the weights of the ca18de vs 4age. Id rather 200cc more and Nissan.

Quoted purely because it is one of the most outlandish things I've ever read on the internet.

They were about $12,500 plus shipping from toysport in the US. They ar rebuilding there site at the moment but i had a fair bit of experience with them as well before i started playing with the dattos. From memory they only hit 10,200-500 rpm though it wouldnt be too hard to get it to go higher. These engines were built using the "silvertop" version of the 20V as they were stronger than the black. Purpose built by toyport as ready-for-race engines for the formula atlantic series. Expect a rebuilt top-end every 2,500kms though...
Oh and you needed a CAMS licence here in australia to be able to buy one.

I been Using internally standard 4agze with a Turbo aswell(twincharged) aswell running 30psi ,the motor had done 100 000km when i got it from the importers , Never replaced the std head gasket , put a very mild set of cams in it thats all 215kw @ the wheels its been in the Car for 8 years ,they are aprox 25kgs lighter than a Ca18, , Tuff engines in Std form . best $1000 race car engine i have had. here are the outright Results http://thehill.noosacarclub.com.au/th ... ic%20Noosa%20Outright.pdf

4agze is much heavier as its built like a tank and will handle serious abuse.
As for weight 25kg is way off,,,,
A12 87 kg A14/A15 93 kg CA18DE 113 kg CA16 113 kg L16 113 kg L18 118 kg CA18ET 118 kg CA18DET 128 kg L18SSS 133 kg L20B 137 kg SR20DE 139 kg
4age Dry Weight (with T50 gearbox): 154 kg (340 lb)
154kg - 35kg for dry t50 = 119kg or around 126kg with fluids
ca18de 113kg dry and 118kg wet
ca18de has no skirts hence its lighter weight but uses heavy cast bearing brace.

Well, I have had both, A15ET and now 4age-20vT..... on a dead stock std motor(4age-20v Silvertop), with stock injectors and just an adjustable FPR, reliably pushing 174wKW @6600 and 307Nm at 4300 rpm, on only 9psi boost with pump gas, and get this... with a stock W10 DET's turbo. http://www.flickr.com/photos/26883514@N02/3538961329/what does the stock SR20-DET make on 9psi boost, If I may ask....

I agree with the aprox weight of the 4age , last time i weighed a Ca18det it showed around 145-150 kgs , thats with every thing inc starter clutch ect , some of the weights posted on the net are bare engines or with or without flywheel ,cast iron or tube ex manifold ect, So it allways going to be on debatable weights ,unless you compare then with the same accessories on them , So really i don`t want to get arguement on about weights .
a 20v toyota head weights aprox 8kgs more than a 16 v head .

I wondered when you,d chip in Cameron.I must say your being very humble with showing results, what about the other 50 pages of results over the years in both class and outright. Let me just say this car is a weapon and dare i also say arguably the quickest rear drive sedan in the state of Qld. on a good day. One other very important factor to consider in choosing between a CA or 4AGE is if the vehicle is to contest any CAMS motor sport events where you fall into a certain class, this is where the Toyota motor falls into it,s own as it,s a 1600cc and drops into the 1300-1600cc class or if forced induction is used the 2000-3000cc class smashing all opposition. The CA18 on the other hand must run in the -2000cc class giving away 200cc to the oposition or if the snail is employed it must run in the 3000-4000cc giving away 940cc to other class runners and this makes very hard work of being at the pointy end at the end of competition. For the record my Sunny is powered by a CA18det,and as for the weight differance between the two,it,s not that great to be worried about when you consider all the beefing up that has to be done down the line to stop breakages and nothing a bit of personel dieting won,t overcome.
